Just had a reporter from Richmond on.
He sound very competent and very confident that Shaka is staying at VCU.
He reviewed the last 48 hours and Mr. Smart's actions most of which have been covered at MUScoop.
Told us to focus on Tony Bennett.

While we are still searching, let's ask Tom Izzo. I'm sure he'd be interested.

I just don't see Tony Bennett as a candidate. His system is working in Virginia and he's already in a premier conference, which they won. Only thing that could drive him away is money I guess, but I don't see that happening.
Tony Bennett will be at a blue blood in 5 years... VCU fans think Shaka is John Wooden reincarnate. Becoming more and more clear
Tony Bennett, interesting!?!
Bennett was the SMU bailout. That ship has sailed.

Wooder? Like how people in Philly say "water"?
Bennett would be awesome. People worship him down here.
It should be noted that he also was just speculating on what seemed logical to him. At the end we are all in the dark and waiting for something official.
1) Smart could possibly be signed and they could be waiting to announce
2) Smart could have never even talked to MU

I am from Rhode Island so I say water even worse than you. My apologies for a spelling error. lol

This. ACC, good program and a great school.
So we have really reached the point where any name on the radio or in Twitter becomes a viable candidate? Tony Bennett is not taking the MU job, that is laughable.

I feel like copyrighting a term to capture what has happened over the last 48 hours. So far...
"Prostate 'inflormmation'" (think forced leaks, little subtance)

He's not. UW is his dream job. Would never leave MU to go to UW. I know this for fact. Grew up with him.

He will turn Virginia into a blue blood in five years.
They will be a great addition to the B1G in a few years too.

Extremely well done Windy! Nice.
I down with Wooder, as a name.

I have sources that say Phil Jackson might be interested. Rememem Phil is a small town guy and I'm sure that after a few weeks he's really tired of Manhattan. We could buy him out of his contract.

I did when he was with the Cougars. I figured if he wouldn't leave Pullman he ain't leaving Charlottsville.

How ridiculous. Can you tell us the future career plans of some of your other junior high cronies? "Growing up" with somebody doesn't make you qualified to comment on his "dream job."
Just telling you what I know and think. That's all. I'd love to have him personally, but I think that's a stretch. I have been wrong before.

So you're saying he didn't leave Pullman? Now I'm confused.
I have unimpeachable sources who tell me Tony Bennett has been interviewing with Marquette's interim Pooh-Bahs in between practices and film sessions as he prepares for the next round of the NCAA tournament.
Because that kind of stuff happens all the time.

Anyone who thinks anyone wouldn't leave Pullman is as dumb as the people who want to stay in Pullman forever.
Except Keefe. If there were airplanes in heaven, Pullman would be the pearly gates for him.

This is not true. Bennett was contacted, interested and listening when Buzz pulled his SMU move. If Buzz had left then, I'm confident Bennett would be the MU coach right now. He was also the #1 choice ahead of Shaka. Strong and Co. were on a jet east immediately for two targets: Bennett and Smart. I assumed Bennett was not interested when all the Smart stuff started up. Still think it's Smart, but have no inside knowledge either way.

Obviously, he left Pullman for Charlottesville. I'm saying after Crean left he wouldn't leave Pullman for MKE. As a result, I find it hard to believe he'd bail on UVA for MU.

I would agree it is unlikely he would leave VA for MU. But he most definitely would have taken the MU job instead of waiting for UW if Strong threw the right $$ after him.
Bennett making 1.7M now, has a number one seed team in NCAA and is in the ACC. Would be a tough get for MU.

Would have loved that. He's a good man and a great coach.
I too would have loved to get Tony Bennett, but he wouldn't talk to MU when Crean left and he won't talk to us now. He is bitter that MU snubbed his dad when Dick Bennett was looking to move up.
