Marquette or Indiana didn't make the field.
at least we don't have to worry about turning the bid down now!
Buzz Williams. We salute you!
Done!
Lol, this is great! I wonder if the CBI is gonna send us an offer smh ::) I would think we would want to turn that down??
Disappointing

Especially with all of the top conf teams dropping.
I hope these seniors and underclassmen fully understand why winning games during the regular season matters.

You have to pay to be in the CBI.
Good thing is that we have a new event to pass up Keefe's most embarrassing moment in Marquette history....coming off 9 straight NCAA appearances including Sweet 16 Sweet 16 Elite 8, picked to win the conference and we don't even make the NIT.
No Respect.
Georgetown picked ahead of us despite losing record in conference.
Wow, apologies. I thought MU was a lock even when a dozen conf winners got in. Guess that 4-game losing streak was a bad way to go out.

Yup, doesn't matter. IU beat Michigan and Wisconsin...we lost to Wisconsin, does that mean if it came down to IU and MU that IU should have gone? They are never going to look at it head to head like that. They're going to look at the entire enchilada. Georgetown had better power numbers than we did.
G'Town was 69 RPI
Marquette was 92
End of story

Georgetown was #4 in the NCAA's pecking order, of course they're ahead of us. They have beaten a top 25 team during the regular season in the past 376 days, and they played zero 300+ RPI buy games to our five.
No Indiana, UNLV, Boise State, Ohio, Maryland, Richmond.
To not even make the NIT?
Disgraceful.
This team was certainly lacking in elite talent, but they had enough ability to be an NIT team, for God's sake.
Buzz deserves any criticism he gets for this debacle.
Consolation - an interview with the NIT selection committee mentioned us 5th of the teams to just miss the cut.
A sad day my friends for all. We have been good winners. Now let's see if we can be good losers, learn and rebuild next year. :'(
On a side note Marquette plays BB to make money. Doubt we will pay to be in a post season tourney such as CBI but I would still like to see them play.

Understand that, I was giving it as a reference in power numbers. Did so the last few weeks to show how teams around MU did not make the NIT, while some did. The NIT is make up of a small committee. You can use other power index numbers if you want.
MU trailed G'Town in all of them RPI, Sagarin, BPI, Ken Pom
I am not embarrassed. This is not "disgraceful." It's sports, not real life.
Indiana was No. 1 much of last season and didn't make the NIT, either. Crap happens.

Buzz's seat at Marquette is still ice cold. If we turn in a similar season next season....it will still be cold. Three in a row might warm the seat up.

The Elite 8 run was incredibly lucky though, and I hope people realize that when considering how to judge Buzz's tenure. It certainly signaled that the high expectations heading into this year might've been too difficult to reach, but also signaled that last year's team was not a top 10 kind of team.

I didn't see where she suggested Buzz would be fired. I was responding to El's post that at times she posts solid stuff, but not there is vitriol. If she said he should be fired, I don't agree with it. On the other hand, if she is challenging some of the coaching decisions, etc, this year then I don't see how that lessens here "solid posting". Again, I didn't see where she called for his firing, but I don't read all the posts so I may have missed it.

Must be nice in that imaginary little world of yours where a team - with 2 McDonald's AAs, college basketball's 6th man of the year and several 4 stars, picked to finish in the first division of college basketball's toughest conference by everyone and the top 28 nationally by writers and coaches - "about meets expectations, maybe a teensy, weensy bit worse" by losing 12 of 19 against Big 10 opponents, missing both the NCAA and NIT and finishing 72nd in Pomeroy and 99th in the RPI.
