Title: ESPN Full Court Schedule....MU on a ton
Post by: ChicosBailBonds on October 26, 2007, 03:52:01 PM
I can't give details right now, but I saw us on their 13 times and the women also have a game on their.

A mix of non conference and conference games

That many times means that it has to include some of the Time Warner games.  I didn't expect any of those to make it on.  The Full Court investment is going to pay off in a big way this year!
Title: I believe the Time Warner games are on...at least some
Post by: ChicosBailBonds on October 26, 2007, 05:35:25 PM
I haven't seen the TWC schedule but based on the games that are on Full Court, I suspect there is some overlap.

I can tell you the UWM, IUPUI, Sac State and Savanah State games for sure are on Full Court.  In addition 9 Big East games.

In total, 4 road games and 9 home games

ERT?  Eastern Ridiculous Time?

(How those people stay up until 11pm to watch the 10 o'clock news is ridiculous.)

No, ERT is a designation used by the television industry on where the feed is coming from.

$99 if you act now is my guess.....Comcast and other cable companies you need digital cable and then you need to order it through indemand, assuming your Comcast carrier has a deal with them.

I live in Milwaukee and have DirecTV.  Last year, every MU game that was listed on the Full Court package was available on WMLW or some other non-Full Court package channel.  Has that changed now, in light on the $&#^$(*! "exclusive" deal with Time Warner?  For DirecTV users, is the only way to get these "Full Court" games to get the Full Court Package?

Added these to the wiki (http://wiki.muscoop.com/doku.php/men_s_basketball/2007), and updated with times from GoMarquette.com.

Also noticed, the DePaul game is on ESPNU now (previously untelevised).  That's sure to ruffle the feathers of people that don't get the ocho.

Really is awesome, fans out of the area (that buy ESPN Full Court) are only going to miss the exhibition game, and 4 others (Utah Valley State, IPFW, Coppin State,  and FL Golf Coast).  Can't wait for Nov 10! :)

It doesn't matter this year because there are so many games on Full Court that it is a no brainer to purchase the season package - but there is a free preview week ( rumored this year to be  from Jan 5 to 12).  I used to have to consider this when deciding on whether to purchase individual games or the entire season.

Is this all a moot point if you have Time Warner Cable, seeing as the Time Warner Sports Channel 32 is picking up all of the games anyway???

Yes, but many of us live outside of Milwaukee or the state for that matter, so not moot for all of them.  I will be thinking of you guys in January when it's 70 degrees and I'm watching the games on tv like you guys are in brew city.   ;D

Next question for you all knowing lord of TV... :)

What kind of production is being done for the games on Time Warner Sports?  Are they ESPN produced games that are being picked up by TWC, or are they produced by TWC in the same way that a few women's games were done last year?

While I can't believe Comcast would be so crappy not to offer it, she may have been right.  I' just pulled this info off the UConn board (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=342&f=2871&t=1311573&sto=pagestart#s=342&f=2871&t=1311573):
QuoteQuestion for Comcast customers outside of CT...
Full Court is listed on their website but is not available in all areas.  Does anyone actually have the option of getting this? A family friend works in sales for Comcast and said, while it is on the web site there is no plan on having it available in my area (northeastern MA).
-------------
I live in the greater Philadelphia area, and Comcast doesn't carry Full Court. (Bastards.)  It's the one thing that's made me consider satellite.

FWIW, Comcast in Boston just started offering ESPN Full Court last year.  Before that you either had to get staellite to get ESPN Full Court or you were SOL.

I ordered ESPN Full Court through Comcast Chicago on Monday.  Price was $99.  Channels 421-426.

Full court is not available on RCN Cable in Chicago, but is on Comcast. Im not sure about WOW cable.

If you have RCN and don't want to switch to comcast, try the online version of full court. I know someone who hooked up the computer to their LCD TV and it worked out ok. Not as good as normal TV, but wasn't bad.

I have a question about full court before I order it.

If a game I want to watch is on regular ESPN/ABC and is pre-empted, will it be available on Full Court?  For example, ESPN/ABC has 2 games scheduled at the same time on the same channel - a Duke game and a Big 12 game I want to see.  Regional coverage gives my area the Duke game.  If I order this, can I watch my Big 12 game at home?

RCN Chicago carries 360, but comcast internet doesn't. So, most people in chicago should be covered with TV or internet full court.

Not all cable companies have it.  Charter, for example, does not.  Cox, Comcast and Time Warner usually have most of their regional systems have access to it.  DIRECTV and DISH do also.  But if you are not served by one of those cable companies, you might not have access to it...check with your local provider.

I'm pushing my luck I know, but do you know if that's available to Comcast Chicago?  Is it way more money?  I'm new to digital cable and I am not sure what to ask for when I call them, and the Comcast website isn't really helping any.  The have nothing listed at all about ESPN GamePlan, and they have very little info on FullCourt.

You're just going to have to call them and ask.  Full Court should be no more that $109, but usually it's $10 less if you buy it before the season starts (got mine on Dish for $99).

ESPN deems the pricing per the contract for all providers

$99  Early Bird
$109 Full Season
$75 Half Season (starts in January)

Ok - after spending around 4 hours over 2 days on the phone and talking to around 30 people (not at all exaggerating) I finally got to someone who can help - verizon FIOS DOES have full court (woohoo!) for $99 (channels 701+).  Not sure if anyone else has verizon FIOS but if you do, call and get it.

I swear, if their internet and video service weren't so sweet I'd ditch this company is a heartbeat.  Problem is, no other cable or satellite provider that I've or anyone I'm related to has used is much if any better with their customer service.  *sigh*

Simple reason.....Verizon FIOS has about 200,000 customers last I checked....very very very low numbers so they only have a handful of agents to serve those customers.

actually close but almost the opposite too.. FIOS is relatively new so yes the customer base is still small.  but instead of dedicating a handful of agents to serve them, verizon decided to integrate the customer support right in with their phone service support crew (which is much much larger).  As a result, nearly EVERY agent and VRS expects you to be able to give them your verizon phone number.  When you don't have one, they start transferring you around.  Even their website shows signs of this.

To make it worse, they've only half integrated their verizon wireless services throughout (which I have) and sometimes they want to know that number sometimes they don't.  What a nightmare.

Regardless, verizon is hardly the only video company with this customer service issue.  This industry reminds me very much of a slashdot'd article I skimmed through a week ago about cell phone industry: http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/10/10-reasons-to-h.html  While I thought some of it was a bit extreme there are still some valid worries and there are so many parallels between the two industries it's not even funny.
