Tonight, we dine on Bluejay livers.
We win by 5 in OT.
Derrick gets 14, Burton 18, and Jamil for 23.
Welcome to the Big East.
B-Jays for everyone tonight!
Happy New Years, and Go WARRIORS!!!!!
Buzz is pressed
I think I could guard Juan Anderson on the perimeter. . .uck!
Chat room! (http://www.muscoop.com/chat/flashchat.php)
Starting Five just don't mesh together offensively. Good D though to start.
The Ox
That place looks like it's going insane.
Buzz has made more substitutions in the first three minutes than Creighton may have in the entire game. Wow.
How can they play as a cohesive unit for any timeframe.
They were going crazy at the Honda Center. Not much else in Omaha
Despite the new rules we've already had two offensive fouls that should have gone the other way. We are screwed.
Can anybody on MU make a shot?
Is there a T in Creighton? Someone tell this announcer it's not Creighdon.
There it is from Otule. Every game.

Exactly. How about they just start by playing the best players from the get go.
I am so sick of our lousy starts.
that 9 pt line looks generous, can they keep it under 30?
Look like crap so far. Creighton just sagging down low not concerned at all about MU's perimterer game.
What is the record for offensive fouls under the new rules? We are in contention.

Yup. 2 for 13 and watch them sagging off D. Wilson. His man then backs down low when passed to interior to double team. Pretty sad so far.
need to have Jamil and Jake feed the post. impossible for DW or JA to feed when they play 4 ft off them.
Thought the charge was going to be hard to take this year with the new rules. Guess the new BE is a finesse league. Not allowing MU bigs to bang at all.

Derrick Open. Derrick passes. Derrick Open Derrick doesnt look at the basket... 4 on 5. All night.
Juans passing on alot of shots too...
Shoot the friggin ball Juan!
how many dumb turnovers can marquette have?
Creighton flops non-stop. Weak sauce. They can shoot though.
They can't miss and Jamil needs to take over.
imagine a 3 point defense
Better guard that 3 point shooting. Again a defensive issue. They may have 20 before night is out.
Creighton apparently has a very strong theater department.
god this team does stupid things - survive a barrage by creegthon, can cut it to 5 or 6, first pass is a lazy pass by Jamil Wilson and goes for a layup the other way, down by 10
I think I've seen enough of Derrick. Can't win with him playin' this many minutes. The loss of Duane BF'd this squad.
Marquette should Play Dawson.... Derrick wont shoot and Jamil is not a point guard.
Who is #25? Wow.

Yeah Creigh-in or Deonte Bur-on. Getting old listening to that guy.
Glad to see ST in the game. The Creighton medical staff will have their work cut out for them treating the bruises from all the flops.
Get it to 6 by half boys
Mayo has been an embarrassment tonight.
Down 10, then D. Wilson with a terrible shot, then Taylor, who just entered the game seconds ago, misses a short shot. Then a 3 by CU and another MU turnover. WTF, Jeeez
This team is a joke. For a team that was picked to win the Big east, they just may finish last believe it or not.
This is not a very good team.
I keep thinking we are gonna start clicking - then we dont.
Creighton's not very good. They make so many mistakes that if MU were just average, we'd still be in it. However, I'm beginnin' to think what you see is all this team's got.
1) Buzz holds the key. Play the right guys, bud.
2) May need to mute this one. Kutcher's fairy pronunciation is upsetting.
3) McDermott is quite the crybaby and these guys flop. They can score, but a bunch of whiners.
We look Like a very bad team this year. But all this substituting has me confused think how the players must feel. Can't build any momentum when personnel changes twice a minute
24 pts against a D that isn't very good. Hard to believe we are wasting this front court b/c we can't shoot the basketball. Frustrating.

Mayo has been an embarrassment tonight.
Mayo has laid a huge turd tonight, and should be waived.
Juan, D.Wil, Mayo and JJJ scoreless. 0 for 12 from field for them.
Gardner, pre-season BE first team. 2 points, 1 rebound.
Jamil is 3 for 3 from field. Yes, he only took 3 shots. He did have 3 ugly TOs though.
24 points in an up tempo game like this is brutal.
CU lives and dies from the three. Not one free throw attempt. Crazy....
When do the apologists come out (Creighton tough place to play, it's New Years eve, etc)? They must be partying instead of watching? But we have that Southern win to hang our hat on...
This is the game where Im having my come to Jesus moment realizing that we really are not that good
This is the most disgusting MU team I have watched in a number of years. I hope the Seniors all look back on this fondly as the year the broke the NCAA streak. They must be so proud. ::)
Every team that played today.... Seton Hall, G-Town, Butler, Depaul and Villanova would beat Marquette...... And Creighton....
This team is not good..... At all

It is hard to be good at basketball when you either can't or won't shoot the ball.
Lots of talent, but not a very good team....
Jake and Derrick play way too much. That Back Court wouldnt start for Southern or Grambling... These guys Starting and getting lions share minutes will have Marquette Under .500 soon..... Watch
I can't believe as an MU fan after all the teams they have had in recent memory, this is the crap we get this year?? There had to be a reason they were picked to win the Big East. Sadly, they have played so far below expectations. There is more wrong with this team than just not being able to shoot etc. I wonder if they all get along very well?? Buzz mentioned something about Davante and Jamil kind of "doing there own thing" off the court. The chemistry just isn't there. That's on Buzz.

Yes because that is what they are trying to do, these are college kids that are trying. They may be struggling but give them a break and support them. They are your team after all.
Who the hell is coaching the defense, Buzz?
Derek Wilson adds nothing. It is 4 on 5.
Anderson is the glue guy all right. He plays like he has been sniffing glue.
We cannot defend the 3 or shoot the 3.
The ball should be pounded inside all night.
What the hell is Derek Wilson playing on the block, when Ja. Wilson is point, Buzz?
Mayo and Juan laying huge turds out there.
I do like Buzz's bow tie. That should be the highlight reel tonight.

If you had told me that Creighton would be 36% from 3 point range in the first half, I would have said we would be up at the half. It's turnovers that are killing us. I believe we have 9 or 10 at the half.

Buzz is panicking with all the subbing. Derrick is a black hole on offense and shouldn't be out there when Jamil is running point . Where's our game prep for a team known to shoot threes?
So....what's everyone drinking tonight?
Hendricks here tonight. And yes, it is -14 out right now.
Lots o ball to be played yet.
The announcer called Derrick Wilson a Non Factor..... Pretty Accurate.
Jake with third foul after an open miss, then another open miss. Not a good night for him.
God, Buzz is subbing again like a madman......
Buzz subs like this all the time. People don't complain when they win. This team simply isn't as good as people thought. The backcourt from last year is gone and the replacements are not as good. Including the freshmen.

Buzz suffers from one thing...senior-loyalty. I don't blame him. It's served him (and us fans) well the last several years. This year it's just not there.
The guard play at the point IS killing the teAm. For all the crap people gave Junior, he was a leader out there.

MU with 6 points so far in second half.
We have not seen a Marquette team play thus badly in a long time. No consistency no glow to offense. Maybe well get better but this is Big EAst time. Go Marquette
I wish we were playing for a Draft Pick..... Marquette won't win 15 Games with this starting line Up.

+100
It's hard to pound it inside when the bigs get it with at a minimum 2 guys on them. Decision is easy to lay off Juan Anderson and pg Wilson. I just can't understand how one can be a division 1 guard and not be able to shoot a single 3. Well, with the redshirt from this year and the new recruits it couldn't possibly be any worse. I'm not a fan of the muscle bound point guards that can't shoot. Bring on Cohen!
What's going to be even more embarrassing?? A much improved DePaul team crushing MU at home Saturday.

Train wreck of a game for Buzz - can you be competitive in the NBE this year (when you were picked for first, remind you)

So far, this is not a dynamic, cohesive team that has each other's backs. It helter skelter basketball. I don't think thus is a coaching issue. This team as assembled is not that good yet. The recruiting class of 2 and 3 years ago is really starting to hurt them. Hopefully get back to getting high level players in the coming years which it seems they are so far.
That was a full on embarrassment. I hope 2014 treats the Warriors better.
It's once thing to lose a road game, it's another to never be a threat to challenge in the game...
this team is so helter-skelter, no identity, no PG, no consistent rotation...
Lots of talent adding up to lots of losses, but we did beat Southern.,...
MU had 9 assists to CU's 19.
Gardner, the pre-season BE first team, took 2 shots. 2 shots. UH??????
D. Wil and Thomas had one assist each. If D. Wil can't even feed the bigmen, then why is he playing.
MU 2 for 12 from three.......
Juan again did not play well against a good team, but does play well against the cupcakes.

Uhm, no. First off, Larry wasn't around 3 years ago. He barely was on campus 2 years ago....hired Dec 6th, 2011.
Larry was around for this year's class, you can't have it both ways. Besides, it was Buzz that can't stop glowing about Derrick from day one to the present. Putting ANY of this on Larry or the administration is ridiculous.
Is it just me, but does Gardner not seem to handle adversity very well? Poor body language, whining at no calls, minor skirmishes, etc. Wonder if that rubs off on the rest of the team,
Thought JW came to play and put forth a nice effort tonight. I also expect to see him playing the point for the majority of time here on out. DW minutes should be dropping.
If Jake's not hitting threes, no sense having him out there. (I've finally jumped on the "play the freshmen" bandwagon.)
Todd and Juan, well, their performances were unexplainable.
The Bluejays really looked good on their threes tonight. We REALLY need to be able to do that. CO and DG won't get any good looks the rest of the year if we can't get some outside shooting going.
Not every year can be gold, but got to stay loyal and support the boys. Let's go Warriors!
Happy New Year all!
Very ugly loss. I'm going to break all 4 of my forum rules tonite:
Rule 1: Never criticize Buzz: Buzz didn't have the right game plan for this game. Need to stick to your man and prevent the 3's. It's not that hard. J Wil did a good job on McDermott. Didn't need 4 guys on him. Also I think the reason the team is not cohesive is D. Wilson. He's an OK defender, but that's it. I'm off the Derrick moratorium. He's hurting the team. Spot minutes on D with a sub for O from here out.
Rule 2: Never trust a Freshman: Burton played good D tonite and while his offense is still is shoot first, shoot second, shoot third, turnover, defensively tonite was a breakout for him.
Rule 3: Never pick favorites: Jake was our best player tonight. For better or for worse, he had better D, more hustle, better positioning, made a few shots and didn't make mistakes.
Based on how well DePaul played today against GTown, I'm worried for Saturday.
