Welcome, and good job by Buzz and staff. Keep them coming Buzz!
Great news! It always seemed only a matter of time. Should fit nicely as a backup to both Duane and JaJuan.
So with Harris and Cohen we have a solid interior and exterior player already in the fold for 2014.
Goodluck or Ahmed Hill would make for an incredible class.
Paul White would be a nice addition and really solidify the class. Kaleb Joseph would be a nice Duane Wilson 2.0.
Any of O'Mara, Wilkins, or Quadri Moore would be a suitable center project.

Those two will be gone after leading us to a National Championship this year as well and entering the NBA Draft.

Don't know about the ban, but it has been an extreme pleasure not having him post with his clutered attachments, pictorials, and life experiences in each instance.
Welcome to MU Sandy, you will enjoy the ride, especially at your dream school.
Chief Cohen. Our new Warrior!
Welcome to MU. Love your upside. Be ready to be a switchable from day 1. Land an immediate impact big and this will be another really good class.

Wow, it's still early but the new conference so far has 5 of the top 30. Cool.
Keep it up Buzz!!!
I REALLY like this kid. Hopefully we can turn some of these great consecutive classes into a final four or further run pretty quick here. Our string of NCAA appearances shouldn't be threatened for a long time.
As Previously mentioned----JUST A GOOD SOLID PLAYER. (Traditional Maybe) We need this. Good Basketball Skills. One thing, he can shoot.
Great addition. I'll admit I started getting nervous when Izzo and Cal were watching, but clearly Cohen wasn't kidding when he called Marquette his dream school. With Wilson, Cohen, and Noskowiak that's top-100 PGs in 3 consecutive classes. Here's hoping we can add LaChance and a big that is ready to contribute from day one.
Buzz is adding PG's with size. DuWilson, Dawson, Cohen all have enough size to guard other positions on the floor. All can also shoot. I can picture two PG's and Deonte out there with Taylor and a TBD big. Mmmmmmmm

Twitter reports from Jerry Meyer said Buzz watched him personally at least twice in the past week. Not sure yet how serious the interest is, but MU is definitely paying attention to LaChance. And it sounds like he has been seriously upping his game.

If it weren't for the number of point guards we have added over the last couple of years there may be an offer extended to LaChance by Marquette, and he would most likely accept, but because of that Marquette has not offered and likely will not. Missouri, Creighton, and Butler have all offered and it sounds like Xavier may be next. There is a good chance he ends up in the Big East, but more likely than not it will be for someone other than Marquette.
I think it's entirely possible we don't end up with LaChance for that reason. I still think another PG would be beneficial. In addition, guys like Duane and Cohen both seem like they could play the off guard as well. With Buzz's switchable philosophy, bringing in switchable points will only serve to improve the diversity of our lineup. In addition, Buzz has had success running multiple points before and with the size and athleticism of these guys it would likely be even more successful than it was with Mo and Cooby.
I am sure Cohen's commitment wasn't a surprise to Buzz. He likely knew this was coming and was still watching LaChance. He wouldn't be there in person if there wasn't some interest on Marquette's part. It may still be the feeling out process, but I don't think Buzz watches someone if there isn't some sincere interest.
Bird is the word!
Welcome to Marquette, Sandy!
We look forward to seeing you mature over your four years here!

His shot looked good in Mequon last week. It's definitely quicker and he has a good release point. Nice pull up jumper too.

So when Marquette coach Buzz Williams offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-6 Seymour standout at the end of April, Cohen was all but ready to make his verbal commitment right then.
However, Seymour coach Jon Murphy told Cohen to
wait until his AAU season was complete.Cohen, who has received more than 20 NCAA Division I offers in recent months,
finished his AAU season with the Playground Elite team on Saturday in Orlando, Fla., and called Murphy about an hour later.
"He called me and said, 'I think I'm going to commit. What do you think?' " Murphy said. "I told him if you want to do it and put an end to this recruiting circus, just do it.
I saw about 10 minutes later then that he committed."Man I LOVE this kid!! Honors his word to his coach and he can't wait to get here.

I love that he was excited about MU from the beginning, he repeatedly told everybody why, he took his time and considered his other options, and then he still stayed true to his MU gut feeling.
A great get by Buzz, and potentially a great ambassador for the program.

FYI, From a Dave Telep ESPN Insider blog:
I'd like to put this on the record. If I were an assistant coach, the last thing I'd want to have to say about ESPN 100 point guard Riley LaChance (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) is, "We could have had him." He's that guy who gets passed over and comes back and makes you pay. LaChance isn't just a shooter -- though he is a lights-out shooter -- he's also a playmaker and a tough customer. Marquette is the place he'd like to be, but he knows the Golden Eagles brought in a point guard in 2013 and have another committed in 2015. Timing is everything, and Marquette's depth at the position doesn't favor an opening. Davidson, Drake and Missouri are on him the hardest -- Davidson and Drake deployed the big guns Friday afternoon -- and Oklahoma State, San Diego and Indiana State have also offered.
I also read Creighton offered him in the last couple of days.
Butler, Creighton and Utah have also offered LaChance.
Alright, alright, alright!

Exactly. Like I said, Butler, Creighton, and Xavier all offered recently, Missouri seems to be the favorite. Marquette may be showing "interest," but it's the same "interest" that John Calipari had in Sandy Cohen. A kid who is having a really nice AAU season and is generating some buzz, but isn't option A, or even B or C. If something doesn't work out, he may end up with an offer down the road. But a lot of things would have to happen for that. If those things do happen, LaChance will be here.
Having watched both him and Christopherson closely sine around this point in their careers, LaChance to me is a smaller Christopherson. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, will be a solid contributor for someone down the road, but isn't going to fit into every system perfectly. LaChance wouldn't be the worst role player to have, but he isn't exactly the type of player Buzz is going after.

Not sure that it would be wise to take a chance on LaChance. How many guards do we need. We have Mayo, De. Wilson and Anderson for one more year after LaChance would arrive, and also Du. Wilson, JJJ, Dawson, Burton and then Cohen. Also Nostowiak (sp) a year later. Eight or nine guys for 80 minutes is more than is needed. Time to start snaring dome bigs.
Like all the Wisconsin Players we have on the team. But we missed one. (DECKER)

Totally agree. Don't know the specifics and haven't asked, but I can't imagine that he did something heinous enough to cause a suspension/ban. Have always found his points well founded and his arguments well thought out. Maybe too cerebral for some on this board. Hope this absence, if forced, is temporary.

Does anyone have any insight on his academics? Bo apologists seem to be using the explanation about his lack of recruiting Cohen that it was grades related (shocking I know).

My bad. They were playing them in the final four of tourney, not the 'ship. I must have just saw the top of bracket in my browser and thought that was the final -- the game was to get in the championship. Lost 51-48. DC Assault then won the finals against Deron Williams.
In another tourney in Vegas this weekend -- Adidas 64 -- Looney's Milwaukee Rebels made it to the finals but lost the New Heights NYC 82-75.

Welcome to Marquette, Sandy! I admire your enthusiasm for our fine school.
I love this commitment. A big guard, who may be able to play the 1, 2 or 3. We've gone from undersized guards to much bigger guards and now some players that are athletic and can shoot it. Size, athletes, shooting, passing... it looks good. The inside out game and drive and kick will be back in fashion soon. Defenders won't be able to sag on our guards (maybe starting this year).
We now have a 2014 and a 2015 top 100 commitment from Wisconsin recruits who are not from Milwaukee. Buzz has changed things in this State, both in reality and in perception. I think the Cohen commitment makes that official (at least in my mind). I get the feeling that Buzz has made some inroads with WI AAU and high-school coaches.
The future is bright. This is another great step.
And, I like Keefe. Sometimes he goes to far and the mods should take appropriate action like it appears that they have. I'd love to have a beer with Keefe, Chico's, whomever from this board. Especially on the left coast.

This is what I am seeing amongst High school students in general. Marquette is now considered the "Cool" school amongst a lot of the black students and this sense is trickling down amongst white students in suburban areas. Marquette has "swag" as the student say, conversely "Wisconsin" does not especially in basketball.
Buzz has changed the perception of basketball, and along with social media and twitter the players from AAU teams in the city are able to connect with AAU players in rural areas.
Can you even imagine two players from Suburban areas (Seymour, and Sun Prairie) ever saying that Marquette was their dream school? Probably not.

Agreed MU is becoming a cool school for hoops. City players definitely look at MU differently now than even five years ago.

I apologize in advance, if this seems to be a nitpick, but I doubt that people from Seymour and Sun Prairie see themselves as suburbanites. The fact that MU is getting players from outstate Wisconsin is even more impressive then getting players from the Milwaukee suburbs, especially given how locked down Wisconsin had everywhere in the state except southeast Wisconsin just a short time ago.
