I've never been one to publicly bash Crean on this site. I've watched and read all the comments over the years about Crean and how he left MU. My oldest is a sophomore at I-4, so I've got no reason to rip Indiana.
But Chicos, Damn! You like to stir the pot!
Crean is my hero.

I don't mind when he sticks up for his guy, but does he really have to troll like this? I mean trolling the anti-Crean type is like fishing with dynamite. You catch a lot, but it really isn't all that sporting.

I almost hate to admit it, but you have some valuable input on any number of topics.
If the topic is IU, that's the exception.
I need a selective ignore button that would automatically screen out any of your comments on IU or your beloved idol Crean.

Amazing what a big man will do for a program.
The Hoosiers might even get to as many wins as they had the year before TC took over (14-4).
Wow, simply amazing!

Without the cheating and in a tougher Big Ten now than then.
I just remember the last few years the wonderful posts here of how he would be fired by now, that they would never win, that there wasn't a 5 year plan (like I said there was because I had some close associates of Fred Glass), etc. I do miss the wonderful posts from a few folks here that this is all they did, literally, post when IU lost.
Leever, notice I put it in the SuperBar, where it belongs. Notice also how I did nothing different than anyone else when they start their IU threads, of course the difference is that here they win the Big Ten title and there are maybe 7 or 8 responses. IU loses on the road to Illinois, there is a 40 response thread within hours. The psychology of our fans is clinical at times.
I'm sure IU will lose in the NCAA tournament, I suspect 10 to 15 people have already written the post here on Scoop and ready to launch it. Pretty funny stuff.
4Ever...they signed one of the best PG's in the country, that's what has made them go from pretty good last year, to very good this year. Their guards sucked last year, the difference has been the guards.

I'd say the PG had less to do with their improvement this season compared to the explosion of Oladipo. Probably some advanced stats (PER, etc) out there to back that up, I just wouldn't know where to find them.

Look, part of this is an I told you so, and I'm freely admitting it. A lot of folks bashed me pretty good for the 5 year plan comments and saying they would be back on top of the college mountain at this time period. Of course these jags (not Rocky, he's been a standup guy about this) are TOTALLY silent now, yet they still post here constantly. Petty? Yes it is, but I don't really care. I'll defend my alma maters, all three of them. I also don't like to be told I'm wrong when I knew I was 100% right. ;)

Oladipo has been huge, no doubt. Proves the point, he's a guard and guards drive college basketball. They now have two solid guards and a third good guard shooter, plus a capable backup in Remy. Last year they were a disaster at guard. Oladipo was not ready, Hulls playing PG was a joke. That's been the major improvement of this team, the guard play.

If you've actually watched any of Indiana you'd know that although Zeller is talented this Hoosiers team is driven, and succeeds, due to its wing play and guard depth. It's why they win games even when Zeller is disappointing individually.

Zeller is talented? Kind of an understatement for the guy projected to go between 2 and 5 in this year's upcoming draft. That said IU can beat you a lot of ways. Zeller's inside game and the slashing ability of Oladipo and Farrell open up the perimeter for outstanding 3 point shooters (Hulls, Watford, Sheehey). Offensively, Indiana is the most complete team in college basketball. On defense, Oladipo is great and Zeller blocks shots. The rest of the team's D is only ordinary and their only weakness. #1 overall seed and the tourney favorite as of today.
Gotta agree with Lenny. IU's best game beats other team's best game, so they are the favorite right now. IMO, Zeller is underutilized offensively. They have lots of weapons that can attack out of that 3 man weave, but put Zeller in Buzz's offense and he averages 20. Defensively, Oladipo and Zeller carry the rest.
Some of Zeller's underutilization falls on his own shoulders. He has to want the ball more in the post. Many times he makes one feeble attempt at a post up, then curls around for a weak side screen. Has to get stronger in his legs.

No, just a special one-off banner to note the achievement.
From 14-4 in 2008 to 1-17 in 2009
Can that be added to the T-shirt?
A true IU fan wouldn't be gloating right now. A true IU fan would be quietly smiling reluctantly knowing that a Big ? championship is nice, but this isn't Indiana basketball.
Who is ecstatic about IU clinching a share of the championship right now? All of the peace-love-hippie-turned-professional females who graduated from IU in the late 90's who never bothered to attend a basketball game while in school and couldn't - to this day - give you a name of any current player on the team. The same ones who were convinced that Bobby Knight really was going to rape them and tell them to enjoy it, and after he was fired, were happy to jump on the basketball bandwagon after a few tourney wins in 2002 (but jumped off well before the final buzzer sounded against Maryland).
They know who Tom Crean is, though... and they'll be buying a commemorative t-shirt, which will be donated - unwashed and unworn - to Goodwill in two years.
Congratulations, IU. Those of you who care, don't; and those of you that do, phonies. Except Chicos, that is... because like Virginia believed in Santa Claus, so too does Chicos believe in IU -- such is why half of us are annoyed by Chicos and the other half think he's adorable to watch once a year.
Benny from downtown! Yes!
Piling on Benny...
Remember the dare to dream article Dan Wetzel wrote on MU & TC? Well that happens at MU. But at IU when you bring out a ladder you get Pat Forde teeing off on your excess. He went to IU because he claimed to know IU hoops yet most MU fans seem to understand the program better than he does.

Gloating from hence they came....no. Proud from hence they came...yes. The 14-4 Kelvin Sampson record was accomplished through illegal endeavors and they were put on probation for it. Kids on drugs, flunking out of school, etc.
Now, good kids, graduating kids, over achieving kids mixed with some stars....damn right I'm proud of that and so are most IU alums...considering where we were under Sampson and what he was doing (including stuff that hasn't come out in the public)....yes, very proud. It's more a gloating of accomplishment in the short term, not against the historical reference of the program. There is a big difference.
Your predictions have been so terribly wrong this year and in the past, I'm not exactly holding my breath on this one either. ;)
My prediction has come true, that Indiana fans would soon realize what a preening, self serving douche bag he is and would hold their nose (and tongue) until he leaves. If you think IU fans approve of
Last nights embarrassment you are kidding yourself. I wonder if Kansas or Kentucky would lower themselves for that kind of stunt? It wasn't the first time for Crean and it won't be the
Last. What's worse is that he took a heartfelt gesture Knight made 25 years ago and tried to make it his own.
I'd like to know who ordered the banners he had raised at the BC removed. Sure as hell this new one he demanded at Assembly Hall will come down as soon as he's gone

The only actual prediction one could infer from my recitation is that someday soon you'll become a professional. But that was certainly not the implication.

Not being an IU graduate and pretending to know what they are feeling is probably the most fun to watch...the opinions of those not part of the family. Expectations change, and they are a fickle fanbase. Right now, they are proud to be back as major player. In a few years, yes, they will demand more and more, such is life. If MU wins the Big East title this week, do you think our fanbase won't act like this? What did our own fanbase do when we dared to go to the NIT after the Final Four? Comes with the territory.
As for you second sentence, seems like a cheap shot, but to each their own. Have a good one.
