Just announced on his Twitter account that he's finishing his final year at MU!
Awesome!
Great news for MU. Really like this as a one-year addition.
@T_Lockett24: "I've been a sundevil since 16. I love and appreciate the people and experience at ASU. Saying that, I am excited to finish my last yr at MU!
So with classes now done and finals starting, is this good news or great news?
Great news...pretty much expected this for a few weeks, but great to get the official word!
He's going to look real good in a Marquette uni.
He simply waited until he graduated earlier today to make the announcement.
Great news. He'll be great addition to the program.
Blackheart
Let's hope it is great news!
MUBB just became that much deeper and talented a basketball team. Excellent.
Some quotes, including from Herb Sendek:

I guess this means this has been in the works for awhile and the people who called this earlier this week knew what they were talking about.
Forgive me if this has been discussed, but does Lockett have to sit out as a transfer? If not, what were the circumstances?
Thanks all.
No, he graduated, so he doesn't have to sit out.
No. He graduated from Arizona State, so he's good to go.
Thanks.
Did he graduate in three years so he has eligibility left?
And, I assume he's looking at grad school at MU for a year...
Yes he has one year of eligibility remaining. Not sure if he redshirted and graduated in four, or simply graduated in three years.
Got it.

He graduated in three. Pac 10/12 All-Academic Team the past two years as well. Majored in Business Communications, and has a 3.3+ GPA as an honors student.
I've seen him play many times at ASU, now I can't wait to see him live at the Bradley Center!
Chapman
He is our kind of guy.
Love it. Excellent pickup for MU.
Our starting #2 next year baby!
Reverse Hiroshima!?!
Great news! Welcome to MU Mr. Lockett.

Nice Fox article. Gives Buzz/team some leadership also.

Could you elaborate on his game a bit?
The Pac-12 was terrible last season so I never tuned it as often as in the past and when I did it was only to follow Washington so I'm a little unfamiliar with Lockett's skills.
If the transfers out were Hiroshima II...
...is this the fall of the Berlin Wall?

His game is similar to Vander's but he can finish around the rim much better and has a much smoother shot. But his athleticism and game style is very similar.

I think you missed the point of Blackheart's comment. It becomes great news if Marquette's need for him increases due to more roster losses. Let's hope it stays just good news.
"F" on this Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Stick to the subject.

The last couple of years he's clearly been the top offensive option at ASU, so he's had years of experience playing with the other team game planning against him.

I couldn't agree more.
This is good to see from Lockett himself! There's no such thing as "too many" offensive options.

Exactly its always a plus to have more than 1 senior for leadership reasons.
No downside to this. A talented scorer on the court...and an Academic All American in the classroom.
As Larry McCarran would say. YYEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
But is the BOT ok with this since he's not a traditional?

Juan's not leaving!

welcome to the family @T_Lockett24! welcome.....
He's gonna look good in blue and gold. Great news! I wonder if Jones was planning on leaving before he knew a possible wing player was joining, or perhaps he found out one (Lockett) was coming and decided it was time to go.
AWESOME
Rotation
1) 1. Cadougan, 2. D.Wilson
2) 1. Lockett, 2. Mayo 3. Ferguson 4. Thomas
3) 1. Blue, 2. TJ Taylor 3. Juan 4. Ferguson
4) 1. J.Wilson 2. Juan 3. S.Taylor
5) 1. Otule 2. Gardner
But a lot could (and probably will) happen between now and the start of the season. I expect Lockett to lead the team in scoring.

From what I have seen of Steve Taylor, I would put him as the primary backup to Wilson at the "4" spot. Other than that, that lineup looks good. A lot of depth at guard.
S. Taylor is already more physically ready to play the 4 than Juan is. I'd reverse them at the 4 spot on the depth chart.
When I heard this I gave a big Tiger Woods fist pump. Welcome to the family TL
Excellent news. My girlfriend's father played for ASU and he took us on a tour of their new practice facility in early 2011. That was Lockett's sophomore year and everyone we talked to raved about him. Took in a horrific game afterwards (they lost 55-41, I thought it was the badgers in cardinal & white), but he was the lone bright spot for the Sun Devils. Glad he picked MU!

Most people in D1 basketball can finish and shoot better than Vander; so that's not saying much. Vander shot 25% from the field (for the year!) and had only 2 less turnovers than DJO, while playing 250 less minutes. Most of his shots were within 10 feet of the rim. The one thing Vander did (and I hope Lockett can do as well) is defend and create steals.
Hell, he almost had as many TO's as Junior. Lockett will be a significant upgrade.

- Vander didn't shoot 25% from the field. That's ridiculous.
- Implying that Vander turned it over almost as often as Junior is the same as saying DJO had as many turnovers as Vander. Silly.
- Lockett turned the ball over with more frequency than Blue last season.
- Vander's 43% eFG & 23% TO rate both have plenty of room for improvement... you'll see it this season.
- Don't forget Van also drew contact and got to the line. He was also our second best assist man.
Really, really good news. If there were any concerns about a somewhat down year next year, due to a lot of unanswered questions, this "get" should alleviate much of those.

-Vander had 4.5 rpg....better than everyone on the team but Gardner and Jae. Yes, better than Jamil and at least 1.0 rpg better than any other guard on the team.
I see them as different players. MU needs to replace scorers in the half court and Trent fits that bill. MU's scorers will be TL, Mayo, Gardner and Jwilson. TL is also a very good defensive rebounder (Jae). He also has a post up game. Trent's turnovers were higher as he also had to play PG after ASU's PG left the team. In terms of shooters against the zone, MU has TL and Jake now.
Vander is awesome in transition and on the ball. Tough on the offensive boards in the role he plays within the seams. His athleticism is a tough match up. MU had one of the best teams in the country on the run last year and that will be TL's biggest adjustment.
One thing for sure, no matter what transpires, Buzz will have his 5th very different team style of play. Maybe a bit better in the half court and a bit slower in transition.

Nice job on the off boards (though not quite as good as Jamil) solid on def. Vander rebounded the ball better than all the players shorter than him, this is true. Besides being true, necessary and in line w/his role on last year's team.

I think we'll still be able to fly. JC and Van can both push the ball. JWil can explode down the court. I expect TL to love the chance to spread his wings outside the half court as well.
Great news! Going to be a great addition.

-Not even close to 25 percent. He shot just over 41%.
-Vander turned it over just over 2 times per game. Not good but not terrible.
-Both Lockett and Vander turned the ball over about the same amount per 40 minutes.
-Yep.
-And finished once he got there. And yep, very underrated passer.
