If we get both of these guys for the upcoming year our roster will be better and more balanced than last year. Big up front with solid guards. Go get em buzz!
McKay before Nolan.
Lockett would be, in all likelihood, for 2012-2013. Nolan is likely a Prep this year and reclassifying as a 2013. I doubt both are this year.
But McKay is a 2013.
Lockett will be 2012 if he graduates this year.
No way in hell Nolan is eligible for 2012.
And I would steer way clear of him. Would rather have McKay, who has twice the motor that Nolan does.
Nolan said himself he's 2012. Visiting st johns right now.

Da Nile ain't just a river in Egypt. How many freshmen did St. John's sign last year? How many actually played for them?

Most because that is all they had.
Just think about it...wouldn't it be nice to have size for once

Speaking from experience, I wouldn't wanna be without it.

Sure, if he played like a big.
Please, no Nolan.

I thought Nolan was reclassified.

Apparently everyone knows that except for the guy writing Nolan's tweets.

McKay and Juan are discussing hooking up in MKE when they both are in town.

"hooking up", huh?

Maybe a poor choice of words.
McKay plays on the same team at Indian Hills with Juan Anderson's former high school teammate Roderick Bobbitt.
They are discussing when they are both going to be in milwaukee and are going to try and get together. In general I think we could get Mckay if we wanted him but I'm just not sure how hard we are looking at him. Maybe with Jones spot open we will look at him harder. I think he is perfect 4 in our system. We also need to get a 5 at some point in either 2012 or 2013. Saw some video of Kevin Larson and he is a little better then I thought.
FREAKING PHILIP NOLAN. GET HIM IN THE WEIGHT ROOM WITH TODD SMITH. DECELOPE HIM. 6 10 player in our own backyard.

He tries to be a shooting guard. And he's not. 6'10" means nothing if you don't step inside the paint, let alone the 3 point line.
Sick and tired of hearing about Nolan. Why spend time on a player who isn't going to qualify? Maybe never year after he spends a year at St. John's...Military Academy.
Nolan has definitely gotten a bad rap recently. However, there were a decent amount of good reports about his motor and the work he was doing inside. Sounds like the kid might just need the right coaches and mentoring? Just a thought.
I'm not saying he's going to be great or even good, just saying he's still a kid that has some growing/maturing among some other work that needs to be done. In the right atmosphere, the kid could develop quite nicely. Isn't that what we do with our bigs? Develop them?

Here's my main thought regarding Nolan...if he's not that great, why is he being recruited by so many high majors? I'm not saying he's Anthony Davis, but he's definitely not a scrub. I think that he's simply best suited to be a 3/4 type player despite having the length of a 5. Get him in with Buzz, let him use his length and athleticism, and don't force him to play a position he isn't as well suited to and he could really be good.
I do have some worries about him qualifying, 4 schools in 4 years isn't always the best recipe for academic success, but if he can straighten out his schooling, I'd love to see him here, whether as a 2012 or 2013.

What I meant was. Out of all the freshmen they signed, how many were admitted and academically eligibile? In other words, Nolan visiting St. John's probably means that he's a huge academic risk to play this year.
The answer to my St. John's questions are they signed 7, but only 5 were eligible to play. One Norvelle Pelle 77th in the country last year has resurfaced as a 2012 recruit for San Diego State, the other Jakarr Sampson 32nd in the country last year is going to give qualifying at St. John's another go this year.

First he's going to need the Todd Smith equivalent of an academic adviser (a tutor really).

I agree with you as well. Not the best recipe for qualifying but the kid has some major upside. Much more than durley did in my mind.
I'll see if I can dig up the tweets from the recruiters about how Nolan looked. Not sure if I'll be able to find them. But I was a little surprised that they were about how physical he was being inside and how active he was on the boards against some good competition.
There's definitely a reason a bunch of high majors are very very interested in him.
NOLAN IS 6-10, AND WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. WE HOLLER NO HEIGHT--IF HE'S HAS DECENT ACADEMICS AND IS 2012 ELIGIBLE, SIGN HIM, SIGN HIM, SIGN HIM, SIGN HIM.
case closed!
I think all of the "issues" with Nolan, playing too much on the perimeter, strength, etc... can be rectified in a big hurry by Todd Smith and Buzz working with the guy. Shouldn't be a problem getting him acclimated.
Let me tell you something. Don't you think that if Buzz felt a 6-10 local product was a good fit in all ways, he'd have signed him? I heard a story of a 6-10 player MU was recruiting hard and after he took a visit he questioned whether he had it in him to make it successfully in what the MU players do physically day to day. It's not for everyone and Buzz recognizes that.

Might as well close this thread. Ted knocked it out of the park.
