Junior "Cardagan", again. I guess no one told the announcers they messed up last time.
Typical crappy start including the obligatory early turnovers by Cadougan and Blue
Terrible announcers. Everything Trending Depauls way.
Two tough calls to begin for Vander, the no-call on the lay-in and that ticky tack on the 3. Sitting for a while now
what the hell is going on?
It's early....and its Depaul.

It's strange how teams seem to always get their crap straight when they play Marquette.
Don't think this lasts for DPU, but MU is capable of digging deep grave.
Who knew we had a sweater playing for us? Junior CARDIGAN!!!
DJO and Crowder don't seem the same w/o the big smoove...Gonna be a dogfight
So the announcer called him Cardigan again, then "corrected" himself and said Cadigan
So is it Cardigan or Cadigan, I always forget.
They were fine against the Hall. Also, Gardner wouldn't be out there defending the guys behind the 3 pt arc.
I hate our three point defense SO much.
This is one odd game.
Never want to see that.

a couple of those 3s were well defended, but they still went in.
Didn't actually look like he landed hard on his head in slow motion.
I hate watching DJO second guess and not pull the trigger..
That's going to leave a mark.
Hope he is ok.

Come on. Some of these 3's were ridiculous. Pretty good D on a couple of occassions and they made it, including a prayer on a shot clock buzzer beater. Some from well beyond the NBA line. It's not bad D all the time. Some times the other guys make plays.
Adding, though, that ridiculous bank shot on the two.
An occasional defensive rebound would be nice
4 threes and no block-out on offensive glass. No size in the middle will kill us!
the two threes by Crockett were shots you have to just tip your cap to
Is this gonna be one of mf'in games again?
Still think Buzz needs to work on recognizing when things are going sour and calling that time out sooner.
Mu looks tired against worst rebounding team in the BEast
DPU is one of the worst executing offensive teams around.
And just fucking crushing it right now.
our guys know how to block out right?
There's something wrong with this team. Maybe another loss is exactly what they need. Better now than March ... Or something.
Our inability to shoot and rebound is absolutly embarassing. We havnt made one jump shot yet.
Depaul makes everything and they are 11-11 overall. WOW.
No heart at the moment. Not good.
This game is making me want to cry. MU needs Sheesh back something fierce. That steadying option in the paint is a glaring gap over the past two games.
feels like a game I've seen before, killin' me....accckkkk, sleep-walking again and Demons throwin' everything
lots of contact.
MU not being the aggressor
usually when we are down early i think we'll figure it out and come back and win. not so sure tonight....
ND game all over again.

There's something wrong with this team.
We're 290 pounds short of being a lot better. Either the guys get eating or the knee gets healing.
It seems as if our biggest issue is the inability to rebound. It forces us to be perfect offensively and relies too heavily on forcing turnovers on the other end.
This sucks!!!
Suckin' major ass
Impressed by the mental strength of the team bouncing back from the 2nd half of ND.
We should find some walk ons from around campus for next game
Im better than Jamail
We have 25 minutes of game left. 12 point game, and it is Depaul.
Remembering the ND game, hope I don't have to eat this post.
This is pretty awful.
our 2 best players minds are somewhere else, we can make anyone look good
this is as bad as i've ever seen. I'd put this effort up against some of the crap-shows we had to watch in 04-05.
And that's why Melo doesn't play much...two straight possessions where he looks lost...and against DePaul!
Being outrebounded 18-6 right now
awful
this team is a joke - pathetic performance...
it does not matter if they make the tourney - without Gardner, this team is lost, plays pathetic - may not win another game this year...
The team looks like its sleepwalking. I hope Buzz doesn't have them exhausted.
It's meltdown defensive performances like this first half that make me worry about Buzz. Hopefully dude adds some athletic length to this roster at the 4 and 5 to go along with Jamil Wilson at the 3. Jamil at the 3 would be ideal.
I think I've finally figured it out.
MU is fundamentally flawed.
As in, keeping dribbles low...maintaining proper spacing...making crisp, targeted passes...blocking out...staying in front of your man...exhibiting proper shooting form.
Board will positively short circuit if we lose to ND and DPU back to back
Show some heart you pu$$ies!!!!! YOU'RE GETTING EMBARRASSED BY DEPAUL!!!!!
Positive= Jamil Wilson....me likely his development!
More length please. (that's what 4never's wife said)

Well deserved considering the possible blown opportunity to contend for title.
Will we get a look at Kleinschmidt's pick and roll tonight?
Great feed by junior.
pick and lick
DJO= I wanna Get Paid!!
Nice run stud.
Feed DJO. Screen DJO. Isolate DJO. Everyone else is better at turning it over than scoring anyway, let them worry about rebounding and setting screens and let DJO go for 40.
Somebody Lambeer Melvin already!!!
GET IN HIS F)(&(KING GRILL DAMNIT!!
I swear, I only smoke when I watch Marquette games.
Okay, okay. Like how they somewhat tightened the D up at the end of the half. Like the intermittent full court press too.
I think they realized that in order to beat a lesser team you have to play, not let it play out.
FWIW, I started rooting for DePaul. We'll see if that helps any.
Didn't think it'd take 15 minutes for talent to rise after Saturday but at least they are trending up.
Well, could have been worse. Nice 11-2 run to end half, half court pressure is really working and getting Clahar in foul trouble was great. GO MARQUETTE!
Too bad that half had to end right there...MU was just starting to finally play.
It would be nice if we can get a three to fall...great sense of urgency that last four minutes. Tighten up the D, keep double teaming Melvin, and just let DJO take over with the occasional shot by J. Wilson and Cadougan.
I wish we had that Cleveland Dude

Classic overreaction thread.
Is that right 21-8 rebounding edge. 1 offensive rebound, no wonder we're losing
I am amazed that just about every team we play can't miss a 3 while we can't put one in the ocean.
last game and a half we are 3 for 20 from behind the arc
ND/DPU are 16 for 33
Yeesh

I'm assuming we need to average out that clinic on Saturday.
Uhhhh, we have the lead.
DJOOOOO
Someone in the crowd keeps blowing a whistle and distracting the players.
DJO is the man....
I'm, cautiously, going to start rooting for MU again. If things start going south, I'll quickly revert.
For those interested in recruiting, I'm sitting behind Steve Taylor and Kendrick Nunn. Steve is having a good time and enjoying the MU comeback ( giving "daps" to his other friend). He also has a good looking young lady with him, which may be playing a factor. Kendrick is just taking it in.
At least there movin the ball around and being proactive
Stick with rooting for Depaul until the 10 minute mark - it seems to be working...

Do you really need this explained to you?
At least Vander and Jamil are showing strides
Jae is lost without Ox.
#32 made me spit out the drink with that baseline 3 hahaha
The pressure once again delivers for us. Making them work to get into the offense, has definitely had an impact on their shooting going ice cold and they're struggling to keep up, getting us some easy baskets inside.
Ugh...Melo needs to lose the butter fingers

Afraid not
Just need a couple threes from Mayo and this team is hitting on all cylanders offensively.
Big 3 for Crowder to stop momentum
Great bounce pass!
How about the passing clinic put on by Cadougan?
Game is a lot easier when you grab rebounds. DePaul play defense like Providence did last year
Wilson having a good showing.
Sweep the leg buzz. No mercy, step on their throats and demoralize DePaul.
Is everybody feelin a little better now?
Jamil and Junior lookin great together

That is retarded....in any other arena that dunk goes down easily, but DPU has to have these awful 1980's era tight nets.

Did Cadugan miss that dunk?
It was a 16 point lead at 6:30 mark. DJO has not scored in like 10 minutes.
Junior dunk stays in, DPU hits two long bombs and then free throws with double bonus now.
we need to keep running. We do not need to run clock. That's how we will lose this game.
18-19 at the line. Looks like we need to practice our free throws, we missed one.
Announcer also said Gardner tried to test the knee in warm-ups but wasn't quite ready to go. Optimistic we might see him Saturday, if not almost certainly against UConn.
One thing of interest the announcers said... our habit of breaking bad out of the gate might help us in the tournament, never thought of putting that spin on it....
congrats to Junior and J. Wilson on their double doubles tonight
Double-Double for Jamil and Jae! Nice

Really entertaining when he gets out in the open court like that. One of his best games in an MU uni. Nice to see after a shaky game at ND. Hope he can play like this against a top team like he did against WVU in the BEast tourney last year.

Two comments upon reading the first four pages of posts ... most of the these posts showed the vision of a buried rock.
Two, putting the game into context, one of the greatest, most competitive race horses of all time, always broke late from the gate, except in one race. Name the horse.
Now, name the basketball team with the same characteristic.

I won't blanket the statement, but many people get caught up in the heat of the moment from time to time and make statements they wish they wouldn't have. They get embarassed and stay away from awhile. I take their comments differently than the frequent whiners. I haven't seen madtownwarrior as a frequent whiner, and suspect they see things differently now.

I just wish people would think a little. Post cogent basketball thoughts and not heat of the moment "WE SUCK!!!" thoughts. It might not be bad for people to stay away during the games.

accountability is nice once in a while. I do get the being pissed at your team during the heat of a game, but then support them when they turn it around as well.
After the whole "Vander high five" debacle, I have pledged to stay away of game threads. I've made a couple halftime observations, but that's about it.

You guys are right about some of the posters being negative. They do get old, boring, and predictable.
I post frequently during the games, and enjoy posts from folks like NYG who always adds good insight on in-game statisitcs. There are also many other good posters too that make the game interesting. Just gotta take the good with the bad.
I haven't done the flash chat, as I use an I-pad and Steve Jobs won't let me access flash. Is flash chat any better for content....less booring negativity?
This morning I decided to read the game thread to see how it mirrored my feelings at the game last night. Bottom line, many of the thoughts expressed here in 'real time' are exactly what I was feeling as the game progressed. 'Rebound!!!' 'Man, will DePaul ever miss?' Followed by 'We need one helluva run here at the end of the first half.' And so on.
I'm sure I expressed some of those publically. Given my seats, I know a few were heard by players. One in particular stood out when I exclaimed 'Hit the shot DJO!' just as he caught in rhythm and drained a 3 at the start of the second half very close to my vantage point. He looked over on his backpedal down court and gave me a knowing smile. Trust me, they get frustrated too.
