We are not alone.
Maybe Buzz can volunteer to help him out with some of his life lesson sessions that seemed to help the MU players this season.... oh wait.

Exactly. We shouldn't be throwing any stones. Move on, nothing to see here.
Can you imagine how crazy this board would be going if we got Fab Melo - "a big" - and he put up the numbers he did last year!?

We'd either be in full meltdown mode, or just shrug it off like so many of the failed big men in the past. Though with Melo's ranking and whatnot, I'd assume full meltdown.

Vander Blue times infinity
According to their freshman numbers, Gardner is better.

And we beat them twice this year.
(not that it even matters towards your point....I just wanted to remind everyone! ;D )

It wouldn't take long to put up the statsheet comparison to show that his performance was not out of line with other recent 7-foot frosh in the Big East.
Here's the comparison to Hibbert, Thabeet, Gray, Yarou, and McClain:

Its a bit early to write him off.

Nobody is writing him off. People are merely pointing out (correctly) that many around here would rip both player and coach if MU had a guy rated that high flop his freshman year that badly.

He's not a flop--he's in line with other high rated 7-footers.

He was the highest rated freshman in the Big East last year. He was the preseason pick for newcomer of the year. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. When any reasonable person compares the rankings and expectations to the production they get flop. An unreasonable person would compare him to a group of lower ranked, lower expectation players of similar height who had similar freshman stats and see no flop.
One person will move heaven and earth to defend anybody who ISN'T at MU while simultaneously doing anything he can to tear down MU, other people might look at it objectively.

If you're saying that you'd rip Melo as a flop if he were on Marquette, then I'll take your word for it. It would be another point on which we'd disagree.

Perfectly stated.
