Okay, I know there has been a lot of hate directed towards these guys in other threads. But this isn't that bad... especially because of the Wade introduction in the beginning, and seeing the team clowning around.

#2. I am pretty sure the original song was released in the past 6 months. Or are you saying their version sounds 15 yrs out of date?
But I agree on both points. I also really don't think that the Marquette fan base looks stupid because some college kids are having fun with a mixing board and a sound booth. It's just what these crazy kids like to do these days.
Put me down as an official endorser of the Spanish O'Donnells. Kyle (Jordan shirt) and Kevin (wristband guy) are two of my roommates, but I honestly say their lyrics are creative, well thought out, and although they are making music, they are also trying to be funny.
I like to give people credit, and I think this is their best video yet. We all have opinions and in life, unfortunately, not everyone is going to like you, but I give these guys a huge round of applause.
Where else are you going to see these players goofing around like this? It's great access to a team most of us love and, as one poster presented, Joe Fulce is their producer.
Well done, guys. Well done.
Sorry, I'll be in the thumbs down camp.
Imagine if this was a Notre Dame/UW/Cincy/Lousiville video. We'd be laughing AT them, not with them.
The reason there's a segment of people who like these guys is the same reason people "like" their 6 year old niece's dance recital. They mean well. They are trying hard. And they are 6.
Once they are 20, it's not cute any more.
I watched this at work this morning and was cracking up. It's cool to see students doing something creative and positive while still on campus.
Also it's another way to connect the students to the players through their songs and videos; I say keep it up guys!
I liked it. It was awesome seeing Jamil do the worm.
I have no problem with the Spanish O'Donnell's and think youtube and a soundboard probably provide a lot of fun for people who know how to use them but for some reason I always get nervous with athletes and music videos

Love the video. Somebody should tell Joe not to include clips where we're getting smoked by Villanova with the score clearly showing.
I think these videos are great.

Funny you should say that, because as I was typing that, I had the same revelation. I come to find out my brother-in-law (an elementary school principal, no less) had it on the radio when my daughters were riding with my sister's family. Maybe it's a good thing they live 800 miles away.

Then they fail at making a good joke. There is a big difference between this and The Lonely Island from SNL.... no one else is in on the joke except for them.

Nothing against them or their videos. They are just having fun. I just hate when MU pushes stuff like this and use them in marketing. They are something that the university should be overly proud in, just kids having fun.

Some of you people need to lighten up. You sound like a bunch of jealous, bitter, old men. These are just college kids having some harmless fun. I'm sure all of us did things in college that we thought were cool but made us look like d-bags. We just didn't go to college at a time where broadcasting your d-baggery on the internet was an option.
How's that for a back-handed defense of these d-bags? ;)
add me to the list of those not impressed. I really don't see anything they did that is that creative or impressive, this is not coming from someone who is older who doesn't know the song, or doesn't remember what it was like to be young and in college... I am 23, I know that song, and I havent been out of college that long, and I still think its lame. It would be more impressive if it didn't sound like garbage.
I never cease to be embarrassed by these guys. I'd kick my own ass, or expect it to happen.
Count me in as a fan. 36 years old..and always happy to see college kids having fun, being creative, learning something in the process, seeing the gap between student and athlete bridged. Lots of D-1 athletes in football or basketball carry themselves with an attitude, and take themselves too seriously. Seeing our players interact and have fun with the common student is great. Let's keep in mind these are 18-22 year old kids still...
Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing. If other programs/fans want to judge/hate, who cares. WE ARE...MARquette!

The SOD's video at least has some energy to it. As a parent of kids that age, I can at least appreciate the creativity.

- They're solely responsible for the BP oil leak.
- They brainwashed Jerel McNeal into taking bad shots in crunch time.
- They tore Ryan Grant's ankle tendon.
- They're hiding Bin Laden in their dorm room.
- They wouldn't let Ryan Amoroso join their boy band, which is why he transferred.
- They love and respect Tom Crean.
- They caused the North Avenue sinkhole.
- They convinced Fr. Wild that it would be a good PR move to offer a dean position to a lesbian and then revoke it.
- They pushed Lazar Hayward over the endline at the end of the Mizzou game.
- They shot JFK.
- They have man-crushes on Luke Harangody.
- They like the BCS.
- They're responsible for the bedbug epidemic.
- Income tax? Their idea.
- They're the reason Marquette doesn't have a football team.
- They find Bo Ryan endearing.
- They're harmless college kids having fun.

I generally agree with most of your points..but have to disagree here. Can you clarify what you find so embarrassing about the video - a video that is made by kids, that shows great interaction between our bball players and students? So often this type of dynamic does not exist at high-major basketball/football schools..where the students and athlets interact and collaborate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course..but just want to better understand your point of view on the matter?
I'd be less embarrassed if the MU basketball was involved a sexting scandal.

You ever see the south park episode where they make fun of high school musical? There's a scene where cartman and his friend watch high school musical for the first time. Cartman gets off the couch and says "Well I;m out guys. If this is whats cool now i think I'm done. I no longer have any connection to the outside world." This is how I feel about this video. And when the president of the university send the entire marquette community an e-mail praising their song, and when they do another song in Marquettes closed off gym, with marquette gear, fully endorsed by marquette, they have become, whether you like it or not, a face of the university. Do you really want this crap representing you?

A "face" of the University? That's crazy! I'm aware that the a prior video was on the Marquette.edu, but a FACE of the UNIVERSITY? Crazy. Its three college kids having fun. Do you really think other people in the college basketball world outside of MU know or care who the Spanish O'Donnells are? Do you really think this negatively affects the University in any way? Perhaps you do, but I would surely differ.
Lighten up, everyone.

When Jeffery Dahmer was in the news, and in every story, they said "Near the campus of Marquette University", that was bad for MU.
This youtube video is not bad for MU. And, if this (a mildly lame youtube video) is the biggest PR problem MU has, then they are doing an amazing job.
You need to relax and put things in perspective.

They probably were asked by the university. They were probably paid (although not much) by the university.
