Okay, first off, this is not a heart warming topic so I respect those who wish to ignore or not partcipate in this "poll" of sorts...
Talking to a buddy of mine and trying to tally any arrests of Marquette b-ball players since 1988 (my first year at Marquette). They have to be on active scholarship when they are arrested. Someone mentioned "Pops" Sims (who, incidentally, I sat right next to in 1988 at a game in "press row") as one.
Was Damon Key arrested in 1994? That is the only other one that comes to mind.
no he was not arrested but suspended
Beside Michael Sims, I can't think of any MU player that was arrested since 1987.
Was Copa arrested after the traffic incident? Dwayne Johnson may have been arrested spurning his departure. I know he was arrested while at Whitewater.
A big name player from last year's team was arrested for assault and battery, but it was never reported.
I have heard things as well.
Amal?

Did the arrest occur last year? If so, on whose watch?

If it's the incident I think it is, it happened 4 years ago.

Is that the house party incident?
And, was he actually arrested and processed but information was suppressed or cuffed until the coach got them unlocked?
I heard McCracken #2 threatened underage drinking charges if charges were pressed against the victim.

Copa was ordered in to the D.A.'s office, which is the procedure in Milwaukee. Charges were not issued. His BAC was in the range in which D.A.'s can issue charges, but are not required to. Basically, he had a beer or two. It did not contribute to the accident.

It was a couple years ago under Crean. If you really want you can search through http://query.municourt.milwaukee.gov to figure out who it is. The same former player also has an over one-year old unpaid traffic ticket in a different county that he should probably take care of sooner rather than later.
I believe Tyrone Baldwin was arrested

Based on the date of the incident it was during the time when Ring Out Ahoya was coming to an end and about a month before MUScoop opened up. That's probably why more wasn't made of it. You wouldn't see it on MarquetteHoops afterall.
Also the address of the incident is a location where there are always freshman parties.
If it was a while ago why be so cryptic?

Agreed. Especially if it is for something stupid like underage drinking or getting into a fight. One need only qualify their statements as "allegations" and it isn't any kind of defamation, particularly if the statements are supported by public record.
By the way, I was arrested 3 times in college that I can think of. I turned out OK. 18-22 year old kids tend to find themselves in trouble at some point. It's rarely a big deal and doesn't reflect that poorly upon them. Things happen. (M. Clark situation is not the kind of incident I'm talking about).

Think he was leaving Crean's crib?
That link for the Milwaukee courts thing didn't work for me, I searched every players name and i couldn't come up with anything. If it is public knowledge I don't know what everyone is so secretive.
Nvm

Did you spell his
first name correctly? I got it on my second guess.
I don't even know, when I searched it just kept giving me a blank page. I am going to assume it is one of the three amigos?
Good guess
Hmmm...
I see who it was.
I don't want to make excuses for these kids (let's face it, it's never good to getting taken to a police station), but ultimately it doesn't appear like it was a big deal.
The players are celebrities on campus, so the odds of them scoring the hottest chicks increases, but the odds of "trouble finding them" increases as well. These guys are programed to be tough a competitive, so they usually aren't the types to back down in any sort of minor altercation. I'm not saying their bad guys at all, I'm just trying to understand how they live, and how something could go down.
I'm glad this didn't get out when he was playing here, and I'm ok with the team keeping some stuff "in-house".
Also, love him or hate him, I bet TC had this player running a little extra after this incident.
I got it now... Hopefully he learned from that experience, he seemed like he did a lot of good for the MU community.
I remember NateDogg had posted it either on Rivals or MarquetteHoops and it was taken down pretty quickly. So was the Crean comments about two guys hugging during Orientation before the '03 season.

That is certainly possible. The games around the citation date were pretty ugly for that particular player. A traffic ticket was probably the last thing he needed.

???
Basically, a freshman won fanatic tickets at the Orientation picnic. He was over excited and was jumping up and down and hugging a guy standing next to him, pretty harmless. Crean said something to the effect that this was a Catholic university and we don't do that here. It was reported in the MU Tribune the following issue with an apology from Crean. It was posted on the old Rivals board and was promptly taken down.

If was the player in question, or just about anyone, I'd punch nate dawg too. ;)

You all know my feelings about Crean, but he shouldn't have had to apologize for making a freaking joke.
If it was in the Tribune, why was it taken down?
