Do we really need to refute the mutterings of the cult members? Let 'em have their fun.

This makes total sense, and the results match what epidemiologists and other experts in the field have been saying for a long time now.
I bought a couple of cloth masks that have little pockets in which filters can be inserted. One of my wife's friends is an infectious disease doctor, and he actually recommends them for those who find N95s to be too uncomfortable. I like that these give me a nice combination of comfort and Covid protection.

The science has changed folks!! One way masking now good enough. I applaud Dr. Wen for taking this position but the science hasn’t changed, internal polling has changed so the public messaging/policy making is now changing.
She is sounding very libertarian in this interview which I can appreciate.

Really is incredible how just a couple weeks ago when Youngkin removed the school mask mandate in VA there were lawsuits and accusations that he was a child killer being thrown at him and now a couple weeks later we’re all aligned that masks no bueno in school.

Yeah, but libertarians are just Republicans who think they're smart.

5 states are pulling their mask mandates.
Great news guys. With cases dropping so quickly, I can't wait for 3/18 to arrive.

It almost like a memo was sent to blue states by the DNC or something. I certainly missed the peer reviewed studies that were published with this new data.
Keep sciencing.

Next the environmentalists will start bitching about all of the disposable masks that are polluting Gaea.

Too busy mourning the millions dead. So many needlessly because they were smarter than science, tougher than the virus, and listened to quacks and grifters.
And once this over, hopefully many things will be addressed, improved, and dealt with. Learning nothing from all of this would be an even greater tragedy.

History doesn’t teach Americans much because we pride our ignorance, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.
History taught us how to battle a pandemic and we completely ignored it.

Fair. And history taught vaccines work. Smallpox, measles. COVID.
Dumb is eternal.

Also, there's a segment of Americans who don't want our history taught

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

But sure...keep making it about politics.

Ha! Me make it about politics? What do you think the last 2 years have been? Both nationally and in our little dysfunctional message board.

Exactly. You are making my point. We have gotten to where a common sense approaching to easing mask mandates is viewed through a political lens in your eyes. Pathetic.

Anyway keep making it political. It’s worked GREAT so far.

Oh be more of of a partisan victim Jock. If Rocket or 4Ever brings nonsense politics into a discussion, 10 people queue up to mock and dunk on them immediately. If the other side does, like you can’t help yourself doing most days, your cabal chimes in and happily join in the chorus. It’s all awful and ruins 80% of the Superbar threads.
I actually have good discussions otherwise with 82 hence why I give him crap about it. But sure, lump me in with the DASTARDLY RIGHT, cause it’s easier to stay pious that way

I think people of all political persuasions can come together to agree that this is some of the dumbest shi*t ever uttered.
His suggestion, taken to its logical conclusion, would make this a clothing optional nation.
And while Ziggy might enjoy that on his next visit to Noah's Ark, the feeling would not be mutual.

Lots of people still dying from Covid. February 2022 has been one of the most deadly months in the 2+ years of the pandemic. This in spite of vaccines, boosters, social distancing, masking, school closings, etc., - and as a bonus we got more suicides, mental illnesses, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, obesity, failed businesses, regular crime, violent crime and (maybe worst of all) the most disadvantaged of our children being left hopelessly behind academically and socially.
Easing restrictions is mostly about enough people saying they’ve had enough. We’ve reached that tipping point. Science has very little (if anything) to do with it. It will be used as cover, but only the most naive or jaded will believe it.

Except cases keep going down.
The unvaccinated keep dying. That’s a shame, they had long enough to save themselves.
I’ll keep masks handy because people in general are gross and unsanitary.

Cases are going down from the peak - which we hit about a month ago. They’re still higher than they were for most of the pandemic. We’ve had periods much lower than this and restrictions weren’t lifted. When the independents and even some Dems finally say “no mas” our leaders finally listen.

Because we aren’t and haven’t been a serious nation in a long time. We could have saved a lot of trials and tribulations had we had a serious plan in place, which we did but it got scrapped. American and Americans response to the pandemic was an abject failure and embarrassment and exposed our society for the selfishness in which it thrives. History will not be kind to our generations and rightfully so

And I think that if we get a serious pandemic (not that this one was not serious, but I can foresee a pandemic that is more deadly or more contagious) our response to this pandemic shows us that we are totally unnatural carnal knowledgeed as a country. Most won't believe the science or the government. Most have good reasons not to. Our response to this has been abysmal and we have yet to pay the full costs.

It’s not just another possible pandemic, it’ll be any upcoming national crisis. We’re not a serious nation anymore and we don’t have any serious leaders, well, any that can drown out the morons and their followers.

Why do you think those people are dying? They're not vaccinated. Sorry, Lenny. That's the reason. Everyone thinks they're invincible until they're not.

A large segment of society are Karen's. Selfish, small minded people. More willing to believe the lies on their facebook feed than facts and science.

"In spite of" isn't really the right term as it implies those things don't work. They work just fine, miraculously in fact in the case of vaccines and boosters.
It's been one of the deadliest months not in spite of all those things, but because people refuse to take advantage of all those things because they've listened to disinformation.

Prime example A of why we’re not a serious country. A chunk of the population believes this.

"If it ends up that Biden wins in November...I guarantee you, the week after the election suddenly all those Democratic governors, all those Democratic mayors, will say, 'Everything is magically better. Go back to work, go back to school.' Suddenly, the problems are solved."

You guys are so great at predicting these things.

Dee Snider @deesnider
People are asking me why I endorsed the use of "We're Not Gonna Take It" for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers. Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is a infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.

You're right, because the average American actually watches or cares about the SOTU.
FWIW, the federal public transport mask mandate still exists. But yes, go on about hypocrisy and timing.

Can't give up that fear and control. Tough to do when its been such an effective strategy, hey?

So why did you do it?

You're right, because the average American actually watches or cares about the SOTU.
Maybe the dopes you hang with don’t care about the SOTU, but I guess my crew is above average. I haven’t missed one in more the 50 years.
Last nights ranked pretty low on the list.

Why?
Last night sounded more like a convention nomination speech than an actual SOTU.
But when you have no accomplishments of note, you gotta talk about something
-
So why did you do it?
Do what?
-
Lenny
Regardless of who the President is, I have never missed a SOTU address. There have been well over a dozen times I have been in Asia, and I still never missed the SOTU. To me, it is one of my favorite nights of the year. That said, last night was not one for the records books and I nodded off several times.

Maybe it was the squinting at the teleprompter, butchering words (do trump next), chuck and Nancy standing at the wrong time, etc.
And if I'm old, so are you kin.
-
Squinting. LOL.
-
I guess when you're used to listening to the President of the United States repeatedly praising Putin, dumping on our allies, and endlessly trying to glorify and enrich himself, all while reading the teleprompter at a 3rd-grade level, a "normal" SOTU address by a regular-guy president who actually cares about Americans can seem pretty boring.

I mean, I am old, but you're older. If only a few years (what is it, five?).
I don't have the old man mentality, though.

Ahh yes the old “if you criticize this admin, I’ll bring up Trump cause you must love him” despite neither of the other two ever vocally supporting him even though they sit on the opposite side of the aisle to you.
Mike, It’s ok to say Biden is disappointing or less than ideal in some areas without it being an implicit endorsement of your favorite boogeyman. Hard as that is to process.

Ahh yes the old pretend to take no sides without criticizing the folks who changed the subject to the SOTU.
Wags, I have said many times that Biden has had plenty of eff-ups. Thank goodness one of them isn't hero worship of a murderous dictator who would love nothing more than to wipe America off the face of the earth.
How 'bout that Covid and those masks though, eh? IBTL x2.
