Badger band banned

The UW marching band will not be playing during tonight's nationally-televised game against Ohio State due to alleged incidents involving alcohol abuse and hazing.

Actually that's too bad. To be totally objective about it, Mike Leckrone, year in and year out, does an outstanding job directing the UW band. His group is not made up of solely music majors, they remain unique in their performances, are precision marchers, and really add to the entire event. Few schools can say the same. Unfortunately, some band member's personal conduct can ruin it for the rest.

actually, except for the 'goose-step' when they take the field, their most impressive feature is their sheer number!  they travel up to three (3!) semis of equipment and 100 members to road games.  (how many times are they going to do that same, hackneyed 5th quarter?)  And yet, the bands from southern schools can be so much more exciting and entertaining.  Ah, state schools and the never-ending funds.

It really is too bad because one of the things that makes college football so much better than the NFL is hearing the marching band in the background.  This does take away from the entire atmosphere a bit.

It's too bad the athletic dept doesn't have such a strict policy like the band.....UW would have to forfeit all of their games.

This has ZFB written all over it. Ziggy, I thought I told you not to crash the Badger band anymore. You're too old and all your eligibility is used up. Furthermore, all you do is cause trouble.

So let me get this straight... a football player beats his girlfriend with a shoe and is only suspended for away games.   A band member makes another band member drink too much or maybe even mimic a sexual act with an instrument and the band is banned from a game.   Wow!  Bielema must not be involved in the band code of conduct otherwise they'd be banned for 1 maybe 2 practices.

Unless you're a Redskins fan.  Then you get a marching band and a fight song.
