We are a power forward away...
« on: March 01, 2008, 04:13:19 PM »
from being a dangerous team.  Mbakwe looks like he's gonna be a good one, but he is not a good one right now.  Don't think there is enough time left this season for him to sufficiently get the rust off.  He missed some very easy shots very badly.  Hayward is not effective against good big men that can move.  Barro had a bad day.  Burke was huge, but missed a very important free throw aftger his tremendous dunk putback.

huh?

Mbakwe had seven boards in 14 minutes and was MU's best defender against Hibbert.  He played well, but is not yet an offensive threat.  If you wanna pick on a forward, how about Lazar?

You are right about Hayward, except he is a small forward forced to play power forward.  It becomes obvious that he is not a four when we play the big time opponents.  Mbakwe is a solid rebounder but same old same old for our power forwards right now.  No offensive game.

Yeah, I posted this sentiment after the first half - Trevor missed way too many bunnies in this game.  But, remember, this is only his third or fourth game.

Barro had a bad day? The guy is useless on Defense. His Ole mexican Bullfighter d cost us the game as his men continue to drive right by him.

When is Crean going to get a clue and get a horse that  can compete inside? Probably never.

Next year we will have 4 point guards. How many will stay with the lack of PT? Crean continues to recruit 5 foot 9" mites.

Hoaw many more years wull Crean be excused for not bringing in a quality big?
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Tyshawn Taylor is 6ft3 point guard and  Nick Williams is 6ft 4 shooting guard for 2008 recruits. Cube is really a shooting guard and you are right, Acker is small, has had only one good game and his minutes have decreased big time in the last month. Big man debate is always there, but we need athleticism at forward positions as evidenced today with Lazar and TM having off days. Jamil Wilson will help that void if he ever commits.

big man was a non-issue today.  lucky 3 pt bombs and bad FT shooting lost this game, but I am sure you are just proving a point after a loss.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Lack of low post scorer is always an issue with this team, because we have to play that much better in all other facets of the game to compensate for it.  Missed layups by Mbakwe and Hayward particularly were certainly a huge factor as if we had hit just one of them in regulation (putbacks are easier than free throws for a decent big guy), we win the game.
