Really hard to say - Oso, Jop and Sean all have a strong case. Ultimately I'll go w Sean because Defense wins games and his final deflection was huge (even though dude still might have missed). Also got robbed with the call on that clean strip/block. Plus that shot - big when it mattered.

Jop and Sean are very worthy, but it's Oso. From beginning to the very, very end, he was our best player.

Oso missed too many free throws to get SOTG. I will go with Sean Jones. Not only for that clutch 3, but the basket he scored when he came out from under the basket and then spun around the defender and scored.

Props to Tre Norman for hitting a three.

Those were also Seans only 2 buckets out of 6 attempts.

Sean was huge tonight. But people are really underselling Oso. He was even bigger in that 17-0 run and literally ignited it.

And also had huge D even if less disruptive.

Jop had a team high 19, second on the team with 4 rebounds and hit a huge shot with 2:00 left to put MU up 4.

I think I’ll change my (meaningless) vote.

Adem Bona - All PAC Twelve 1st Team Selection, averages 18 points and 8.7 boards - Held to 13 points and 3 boards
Berke Buyuktuncel - Future lottery pick - Held to 0 points, 4 rebounds on 0-5 shooting - posterized twice
Aday Mara - Supposedly a future lottery pick - Held to 0 point, 2 rebounds on 0-1 shooting

UCLA's strength was in their big men. Oso outshone them all and his dunks were what sparked our run and then knocked it up a notch. Oso was the stud.

Honorable mentions to Jop and Sean "ONIONS" Jones

Probably helped that we got Berke in his first game. Was not impressed with him at all, wanted him with the ball in his hands at all times.

Not even close.  Sean and his lock down defense. UCLA started their offense 12-15 seconds into every possession. The Mad Leprechaun had to burn two time outs to set a play (and Shaka then switched to zone).

Sean is #1 - We don't win without him!
Jop is #2 - Kept us competitive - might have been blown out without him
Oso is #3 - The refs treated him poorly - he responded by delivering timely and violent offense!

Team win, solid coaching adjustments!

The crowd was very supportive, definitely louder than the UCLA crowd, That was fun!!! So glad I came to the game...

I gotta go with Jop. If he hadn't thrown down some 3's in the first half, our 17-0 run wouldn't have gotten us even tied. He worked his ass off on D, including an elbow to the jaw, and held his own down low.

Really tough call. Jop's offense kept us in it early and he played some of his best defense against UCLA's hulking front line.

But ultimately, when no one stands out for the full 40, I'm going with the guy who played the biggest in the biggest moments.

Sean Cojones it is.

I give it to Sean Jones, followed by Oso and Chase. Those three ignited the comeback and did it in short order. Nod to Jones for burying the game winner.

Great points about the UCLA bigs.

Also great points, especially about Joplin's D. As I think back, it probably was the best defensive game of his career, and we really needed it.

I'm sticking with Oso, but Jop's very worthy. As is Sean.

Love debating SoG when there are numerous worthy contenders after a hard-fought win against a good team!

This is true. I make a point to watch Jop on D. He's really improved. He played some outstanding D last night.

I was planning to then say, "But I still think it's Oso for SOTG" - but I convinced myself. Between the scoring and the defense last night, I say it's Joplin.

Lots of prisoner of the moment takes here. Without Joplin, Marquette loses by at least 19
