I was thinking about this earlier today in response to the earlier thread.

For me, it's Jimmy Page, but Hendrix and Prince aren't far behind....

No one will agree but IMO Zappa was the greatest. Hendrix loses major cred for not knowing how to survive.

Nils Lofgren. He can't do his backflips on stage anymore (double hip replacement) but he still shreds it fierce.

I mean that's fine.  Rolling Stone ranked him 40th on the list of all time great guitarists so that performance is pretty accurate I guess.

Jimmy Page is my favorite, but I think Jimi Henrdix is probably the best. David Gilmour's style was perfect for Floyd.

Not having Robert Johnson there is a travesty.  He is without a doubt, the most influential guitar player ever.  And his chops are right up there.  Especially since he was playing an acoustic guitar.

The blues are horribly underrepresented.  SRV and Joe Bonamassa are greats!  I am offended!

But Hendrix burned brighter and Clapton was better.

If you don't listen to his weekly show on XM you should give it a shot. Very interesting insight in general but specifically into hiphop/rap and metal. He pushes the same handful of his recent stuff too much but the other 53 minutes are always enjoyable.

From the list I'd go Hendrix, pioneered so much.

On this list, I'm probably most partial to Gilmour but recognize that the true bests are Hendrix and Clapton.

I think some big omissions from this list are Carlos Santana and Chuck Barry

Spot on. Also kind of hilarious to use Testify as an example cause that’s one of their most simplistic and unimpressive tracks, at least from a pure musical standpoint.  Morello is a master of getting funky sounds out of the instrument and using effects, but his chops are nowhere near the greats.  Honestly I think he was far more creative and impressive in Audioslave

Jack White is another one of my favorites, but I think he’s similar. His most impressive feat is what he did in The White Stripes. The fullness of sound that he got on their tracks, both studio and live, with the most pedestrian and basic of backing drums, was unreal. I used to say he was very underrated, but he’s gotten his flowers as the years have went on. Dude can cut up blues with the best of them when he wants.

Fun John Mayer story. I saw him at the Marcus Ampitheater in, I believe, 2002. Height of his Room for Squares fame. In between his pop singles, he went on these BLISTERING solos and jams. Some extensions of the songs guitar riffs, some just straight up blues noodling. It was incredible. The girls we were with, along with plenty around us, we’re all impatient and annoyed. Like “come ONNN, play No Such Thing”.   I turned to my buddy and was like “dude, he’s gonna put out another album of successful pop and then just play whatever he wants. Dude wants to be SRV”.  And here we are.

I put Mayer on this list because he is wildly underrated as a guitar player.  He can probably play anything any of these guys have written, and is highly respected, can improvise, and is a professor of all things music... especially guitar.

Too bad he is known for that bubble gum pop crap... but I don't blame him for cashing those checks to do what he loves.

He really is great, but he squanders his talent with what he plays, so, he may as well not have that talent since he isn't using it.

I think there are 2 conversations here. One is technical ability as a guitarist. Second is the entire musical package that they bring with their playing.

Morello and Edge are 2 of my favorite guitarists ever. But if the discussion is just technical ability, I wouldn't rank either in the top 100. When you add style, innovation and adherence to the mood and music of a song, they are off the charts. A guy like Jimi - who is my #1 - combines both aspects.

There's a bunch of people on here who know a lot more about music and guitarists than I do (admittedly a very low bar), so I'll ask for a recommendation.

I really love Clapton's MTV Unplugged album. I think that what I probably really like is acoustic blues. Any recommendations in that genre?

I've heard him play some live stuff, where he is absolutely incredible.  But yeah, mostly the pop stuff which seems to be his focus.

** Edit
I definitely don't seek him out to listen to, because mostly the stuff I hear, isn't really to my taste.

**Double edit

If you have song suggestions for me, I'd love it.  Because when he plays, I know the guy is great, but honestly I don't want to wade through all the "your body is a wonderland" crap.

FWIW, he hasnt put out “pop”, much less bubble gum pop, in over a decade.  His recent stuff is more folky and Americana.  Even The Search for Everything that was a bit more radio friendly had folky/bluesy tones.  And that’s not factoring in touring with Dead and Co

Clapton has an album called Me and Mr. Johnson, where he plays a bunch of Robert Johnson tunes.  It's pretty cool.

There is also a John Lee Hooker album called the best of friends, where he plays with a bunch of other musicians.  It is really great, and nice intro to his music in a little more main stream way.

Honestly the best guitarist I've ever seen was the singer guitarist/bassist of this weird blues, folk, bluegrass band called Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band that opened for Flogging Molly in 2007.

He was using his thumb on the E string as the bass the whole time while playing these ridiculous slides. Turned a music that isn't my forte into me buying a CD.

On the subject of Clapton. Maybe the most "holy s--t" comments in comedy from Anthony Jeselnik:

I used to have a little two-year-old son, but he died. The same way Eric Clapton’s son died. For inspiration.

I’m not gonna lie, this is the best that joke has ever done. You guys kinda laughed, then started talking to each other for some reason. Then started clapping, that is amazing. Most people just boo me. But if you didn’t understand the joke… don’t worry. It’s a complicated joke, a lot of things you gotta know. That joke is like an onion. You’ve gotta know who Eric Clapton is. Not a given these days. You’ve gotta know about his kid. You gotta know how clumsy that little lad was. You gotta know about that terrible f'ing song. And then you gotta think all that’s funny.

Similar comparison but much faster and more intense slides.

This is a fairly standard technique actually.  Not to say anything about how this guy used it, but for example, in the aforementioned Tears in Heaven, that first note, Clapton is hammering on (playing the string open, then pressing the fret after the note has started to play) with his thumb.

Oh hell, maybe we should start a thread. This is OT, but I still think one of Jeselnik's most "holy s--t" comments was:

"But my favorite — the best, most unbeatable, never-gonna-happen-again post-show interaction of all time had to be just — just about a year ago. I was performing in Orlando, Florida, home of Casey Anthony. And this is right after the trial, like immediately after the trial. And I said, 'Listen, everybody, I don’t understand what the big deal is here. Of course Casey Anthony is innocent. If she’s guilty of anything, it’s killing her baby.' Now, after the show, I’m taking pictures, signing tits — You know how it is. And a guy walks up to me, totally sober, looking very upset. And he says, 'You need to do me a favor,' which is a terrible way to start. He says, 'You need to never tell another Casey Anthony joke ever again.' And I said, 'Why?' You know, just to be a dick. And he says — I’ll never forget this. He says, 'Because her daughter, Caylee Anthony, is my niece.' And I said, 'Bullcrap.' At which point he takes out his phone, sadly hits a couple buttons, and he shows me a picture of him holding little Caylee Anthony, in happier times, of course. And he says, 'See? See, you son of a bitch?' And I said, 'No, man, I believe you. I just mean she was your niece.'”

This is where I'm at. The ability to get funky riffs out of his equipment elevates Morello for me as a 'favorite'. If it's strictly technical 'old school' playing it's a different conversation. I understand that Clapton is technically great but he's boring to me.

I keep mentioning him, because I think it is required, but Robert Johnson is the man.  He is the root from which so much music today now grows.  And it is one of those really old scratchy recordings, and the vocals sound like he is singing into a can, but it is amazing.  There is a really cool documentary on Netflix about him too.   I forget what it is called, Crossroad blues, or Devil at the Crossroads, something like that.  If you like blues, its definitely worth a watch. Tangentially related, there is a ZZ Top doc also which is pretty cool

Oh, and I believe that Mr. Johnson was the first member of the dreaded 27 club.

someone not mentioned yet: Vernon Reid from Living Colour. IMO, this is the best guitar solo of all time in Cult of Personality.

I saw them in a mall when I was in middle school. They were playing at a club nearby and all went to the mall together earlier in the day. It wasn't hard to miss Corey Glover and his hair.
It is certainly in the discussion.   New thread?

Favorite Solos eh?

Well, my Zeppelin fanatic is really going to show here.  By the way, earlier I said Page is my favorite and Hendrix is probably the best.  Man, I'm changing to Page.

Here's a top 10 solos off the top of my head:
Dazed and Confused (Page)
Since I've Been Loving You (Page)
Sultans of Swing (Knopfler)
Eruption (EVH)
Fade to Black (Hammett)
Comfortably Numb (Gilmour)
Cemetery Gates (I said earlier I'm a bit of a metal head-- Man that freaking squeal) (Dimebag Daryl)
Scuttle Buttin' (SRV)
Little Wing (the intro) (Hendrix)
White Summer/ Black Mountain Side (Page)
Crazy Train (Rhodes) -- a bonus 11th

In no particular order really.  Didn't think it through very much.  No particular rhyme or reason.  Just off the top of my head.

Some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned:

Dick Dale
Brian Setzer
Neil Geraldo
Duane Eddy
Link Wray
Keith Richards
Dave Davies

I mentioned Wray, Davies, and Richards in the UK music thread.

The first 4 on your list are more about style than pure technical ability. Don't care about Dick Dale, but I can understand why the other 3 are on your list of faves.

I think it's OK for favorite not to be synonymous with "most technically gifted."
Bob Mould is one of my favorites. While he may not have the licks of several others in this thread, he's created a unique and not oft-imitated sound. Same with Morello.

The Rolling Stone list linked above is trash. I mean, Keith Richards top 5? Tony Iommi top 25? Ugh.

Nice thread.  I don't know how many posters actually play the guitar, but I have for a long time and I like to play loud.  Very loud and they used to name me 10/10.  Thats the volume control knob on the guitar and the amps.  Think Hair Nation....Before the pandemic happened I actually started to volunteer teaching at a local School of Rock, but that's another wild story in itself.

Glad the title is "Favorite" and not the best.  There are so many guitarists and the list is never ending.  Heck, there are some players on Youtube who are just ridiculous, to include youngsters are crazy good. Whats great for one is great for another, that's why if one person likes so and so, then great, he should not be mocked for his liking.

It is an audible thing in which your senses make you happy on what you are hearing.  The tone and the gain.
A popular song that has a great bridge lead, like Hotel California, the sounds of both Walsh's and Felder's guitars interact perfectly, even though the leads are not very hard to play.  Same with Stairway to Heaven, Page's work is beautiful, every single note.

Then there are the opening songs guitar riffs, oh my, so many...

My top favorites are:

Stevie Ray Vaughan (just ridiculous)
Peter Frampton
Wayne DeMartini (Ratt)
Gary Richrath (REO) (RIP)
George Lynch (Dokken)
Michael Schenker

I’m gonna chalk this up to some quality Chicago homerism, which I respect, cause no way. Husker Du influenced so many people, from the Pixies to the Smashing Pumpkins to Nirvana. And Bob Mould is a beast.  I think Naked Raygun is underrated, but not at the expense of Husker Du

To be fair David grohl has talked about the influence of Naked Ragun so there's your Nirvana influence.

Smashing pumpkins are from Chicago and were signed to the same label initially so I have a hard time believing they weren't influenced by the local band that sounds extremely similar to Husker Du.

Steve albini from Big Black worked as a recording engineer with the Pixies and nirvana. Big Black had two members of Naked Raygun in it and Albini was known prior for being pretty much obsessed with Raygun in college so again hard to imagine no influence.

I said it was an unpopular take 🤗

David Grohl went to a Naked Raygun show at Cubby Bear.  But he also fell all over himself waxing about Zen Arcade.  And I wanna say Novoselic said Nirvana was “just doing what Husker Du did before us”

I’m sure Corgan like NR, but he never talked about them publicly in interviews like he did about Husker Du.

And not for nothing, instead of speculating about Albini, Black Francis literally put “likes Husker Du” is his classified to find members for the Pixies  ;D

Grohl gave an interview where he said he wanted to be someone's Naked Raygun. That seems to be more than just 'saw a show'.

I'll admit most those were me trolling minor connections but I did say that Hüsker Du get more notoriety so I had myself covered about them getting more mentions in interviews 😎

To be honest I do like Hüsker Du, but I just don't understand the love affair. (Similar unpopular opinion with the aforementioned Albini's Big Black)

And a cool story I heard about Mike, the solo at the end of Runnin' Down a Dream, wasn't supposed to be like that, but when they were recording he jus went crazy and every one was just like, ok, lets run with this and keep rolling.  And I think the result is the best solo on any Petty song.

Good for you. Telecaster is nice, especially for those who like to play blues tunes and are reasonably priced.  I have played some Strats over the years, but just for fun/testing out.  The pandemic actually helped guitar sales in view of the fact people were at home and wanted to start something new.

Yeah, and bluesy stuff is what I like playing most.  Its got a nice relic-ish finish to it that  lets some if the woodgrain show through, really cool.
I didnt buy an amp, I have a couple other electrics (a Les Paul and a Firebird) I have a little Marshall practice amp, and a Crate you could hear in New Jersey, I think you'd appreciate it 10/10.

Now you are talking.  Malcolm Young was one of the best rhythm players and actually wrote many of the opening riffs/power chords for the band.  Hells Bells opening, oh my...play it loud.  Malcolm was only 5 ft 3 and played a Gretsch G6131 guitar, which is huge and heavy.  If you google him and look at images, the guitar overwhelms him.  The guitar was buried with him in his coffin.

Angus Young was 5ft 2 and has played a Gibson SG his entire career.  That is one of the lighest guitars and he would have played a Les Paul, but has said they were too heavy.

Saw AC/DC many times and was shocked at their heights, Malcom, Angus and Brian Johnston (5ft 5) out front.

Warren Haynes is another great player that played with the Allman Brothers Band, then went on to found Govt Mule as well as do some solo stuff.  Great player.

As far as the rhythm players go, James Hetfield is the absolute man in my book.

I think he wrote some other song that EC gets a lot of credit for too...

What do you other guys play?

I have a small 100w amp for practice in home, but usually plug in headphones for wife's mental health.  The big boy sound stuff is in an air conditioned storage unit.

I play Gibson Les Pauls and I have a bunch over the years.  Few years ago, Gibson came out with a 60th anniversary edition of "The Burst", so I splurged.  Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, Iced Tea Burst color.

I have three Marshall JCM900 100Watt tube amps and six Marshall 1960BVs 4x12 280 watt cabinets.  And many other pedals toys.

I could be wrong but I don't think Duane wrote anything other than "Little Martha"
Gregg wrote most of the early original material, Dickie Betts a lot of the later stuff.
A lot of old blues covers got their early live popularity.

Since someone mentioned Lindsey Buckingham, he does not use a guitar pick.  He plays in "flamenco" style using just his fingers.  Robby Kreiger same thing in majority of his songs.

Others mentioned country stars.  I don't like country music and my friend had a free ticket to a Brad Paisley concert, so I went kicking and screaming anyway.  During the show, he interacted with the crowd and started playing heavy metal guitar licks covers, such as Van Halen's Panama.  My goodness he hit every, single note and I was seriously impressed.  I guess he does that often in his concerts, just like the Zach Brown Band.  You can just never tell, so many good players out there.

I love Warren and have seen him many times but he wasn’t even the best guitar player in the Allman Brothers the last 20 years or so. That honor would go to Derrick Trucks

Hetfield is almost cheating. He’s a lead guitarist who plays rhythm cause he happens to sing and his bandmate on lead is an insane virtuoso

Paisley is an absolutely filthy guitarist. You could drop him in any rock or metal band and he’d fit without missing a beat. My buddy sent me a video of him at a concert finger tapping an insane solo.

Keith Urban can actually shred too, but his music is so unappealing to me that I wouldn’t even get close to listening to it

Man, thats awesome.  Nothing like a Les Paul.  Those are great rigs.  Mine is a more value minded Les Paul, someday though.  Those burst finishes are so classic and beautiful.

Hahaha.   Fair enough.  Both Hetfield and Hammett are in my top 10 favorite guitarists.  And Metallica in my top 2 or 3.

The first 8 notes I ever put together was the intro to One.
And it is super satisfying and fun to rip through the Puppets intro.  Gotta play it loud right nyg???

My fave from this list is Eric Clapton... I have nearly everything he's ever done with every group he's ever played in.

Once saw a Clapton concert and there was another guitarist in the background w/o a spotlight for about the first 30 minutes (you know how Clapton will play half a concert before he even says "good evening" sometimes).  This other guitarist was playing a lot of Clapton's solos - and they were brilliant -  and Clapton was just playing rhythm.  Finally when Clapton spoke he says "I'm sure you've noticed by now that I'm not the best guitarist on the stage tonight.  I'd like to introduce Mark Knopfler."  Then they even played a couple Dire Straits songs.

I do believe Knopfler is my favorite guitarist, and was surprised to see he's not mentioned in any of the previous posts.  Like Clapton, he's doing a lot of folk and blues stuff lately and it's excellent.

Seeing him with Clapton must have been great.  Thats some talent up there together.
I do just want to note that I mentioned Knopfler when I said Sultans of Swing was one of my favorite solos.  He is tremendous - and wasn't entirely overlooked! Another guy that plays all finger style.  I've seen him several times before and he is tremendous.  Always a great show.  Brothers in Arms is an amazing album, and I think his best work. I really like a few of his solo albums too..  And if I had to pick a 13 minute song to listen to, its Telegraph Road every time!

I’m no expert on guitar players, but I’m sure that all the guys mentioned in this thread are top notch. What sets Knofler apart (for me) is that he is also a fabulous songwriter - great melodies and lyrics along with amazing technique. Punish the Monkey, Boom Like That, What It Is, Romeo and Juliet, Way O Men, etc., etc., etc.

That’s good stuff. I’ve got the same red Strat that he was playing. I don’t really care for it and plan to sell or trade it sometime. My other electric is an Epiphone whose design is based on the Les Paul. Same color scheme as the one Mark is playing.

I don’t think the dude qualifies for this conversation, but a funny thing that happened once related to the conversation.

A few years ago I was kayaking and had just returned to my car. A guy asked if I could give him a ride up to the marina supply store as his boat wasn’t starting. We were talking and I mentioned I had recently moved from NYC. He said “ I went to New York once. My brother was playing a concert there. He is the lead guitarist of REM. Thanks for the ride.”

Phil Spector ... dead.

Though he played guitar early in his musical journey, he obviously was best known for being one of the most influential rock producers ever ... and then, later in life, of being a murderer.

Between 1960 and 1965 he placed 24 records in the Top 40, many of them classics. His 13 Top 10 singles included some of the quintessential “girl group” songs of the era: “He’s a Rebel,” “Uptown,” “Then He Kissed Me” and “Da Doo Ron Ron”by the Crystals, and “Be My Baby” and “Walking in the Rain” by the Ronettes. For the Righteous Brothers, he produced “Unchained Melody” and “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” a No. 1 hit that became the 20th century’s most-played song on radio and television.

That stretch also included him developing the “Wall of Sound” and all happened before he was 25.  Absolutely unreal.

I saw people complaining that “headlines” were downplaying his murder conviction, which I think is silly.  He was a pretty terrible person, but he’s arguably one of the 2-3 most influential music producers of all time.  Plenty of people murder someone and end up in prison, their deaths are not notable.  His was, because of what I mentioned earlier.  It’s not like they’ve been glowing in praise of him.  People have been talking about him as a POS since the 70s

The Wall of Sound lead to the Beach Boys and the Beatles sound of the late sixties....Pet Sounds and Sgt Pepper.  Piper at the Gates of Dawn was being recorded at the same time at Abbey road as Sgt Pepper.  What a time to be alive.

Very Fun thread!!! I think when you reply you should state your level of qualification to judge...I like the way many of you have qualified answers too.

My qualification to judge is Zero, I don't play, can't read music etc....but love music nonetheless. I choose Paige cause I was born in the 60's and have always been a big fan. I think Knopfler is way underrated. Jack White is great as well IMO.

Bob Mould....a beast!!! All the way from Husker Du till now. Saw him play 10-15 years ago solo at the Metro in Chicago so good. A few broken Strings...

IMO something worth watching, "It might get Loud".....

That's great, you can tell that is Knopfler from the tone almost immediately.  I remember the first time I heard the Dylan song "Jokerman" and as soon as the guitar kicked in I was like, that sure aint Dylan, I know who that is!  The tone he gets just stands out.

One of the great things about music, is that you don't really need qualifications.  At least in my opinion.  There is a world of great stuff out there and you can like what you like, and love what you love.  I sure as heck didn't know anything about music the first time I heard Zeppelin, or the Stones, or Metallica but I knew right away, they were all great.

Agreed.  My opinion has always been if you can speak knowledgeably or reasonably about music, that’s enough to have a discussion.

“Such and such band SUCKS”
“why?”
“I don’t know I just hate them”

That’s enough to dead a discussion. But if you tell me one of my fav bands is terrible and have some justification for why, I’ll disagree with you, but I can respect it.

I grew up playing piano, can read and write music, taught myself guitar in my teens, played tons of open mics and shows all through college and was in a band that I left because it was summer break and I had an internship and they all moved back to Chicago where they were from...and got signed the following January and put out a few albums (whoops).  I’m a music nerd and have been told before to shut up as I geeked out over layered double tracked vocals on a pop song or became obsessed with a minor backing riff in a song,  but some of my best music discussions have been with friends who couldn’t tell you what sharp or flat meant, and couldn’t recognize a sample if it slapped them in the face.

So true, JWags85 and buckchuckler. I'm the only guitar player -- or even 'musician' -- from my time at MU in a house of 10, yet I considered/consider myself by far the least musically knowledgeable (with the exception of the Who) of all.

To anyone here who doesn't play guitar, though, if you're at all interested, I'd encourage you to learn (like Knopfler said in that clip "It's a friend all your life."). It's never too late. In fact, there are cognitive benefits to taking up an instrument that can help keep dementia at bay.  And as I'm sure the other players on here would agree, it's pretty cool once you know how to recreate songs you love -- even if you don't sound quite like your heroes do (I've probably played Pinball Wizard more than Townshend has, yet I'll never match him...I blame my gear :)).

Honorable mention to Adrian Belew, besides his solo work and 30 years of playing with King Crimson, his stints with David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Paul Simon, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Tom Club and Talking Heads were impressive.

I don't know the name of this guitarist , but I think he definitely ranks high in some category of guitar greats. Video has 189 million views so obviously people like it. Seems to be filmed in someone's back yard.

I can guarantee you that 189M viewers didn't watch it because of his guitar skills and based upon his ten second solo, is not even close to being a guitar "great" in any category. Probably just the aspect of the video itself attracted people.  But thanks for posting it, still don't understand the Youtube interest though.

Plus, I realize it was the 1970s, but from what I could view from the video, it looks like the guy had a 1958 Les Paul Standard.  I may be wrong, but humbuckers and pick guard seem the same. Then I almost vomited because he had replaced the headstock of the guitar with some other brand.  Oh my, the 1970s and he must have been totally gonzooed at the time. Someone earlier posted about Mark Knofler and he has an original 1958 just like that and it is probably worth 200K now.  Gibson even made a Knofler "remake" classic of it some years ago.  Beautiful....

So fun fact...the guitarist is named Bill Bartlett. Ram Jam was entirely a one hit wonder and if then, not that really.

He was in a fairly successful pop band in Oxford, OH that was signed and toured (where I went to college hence the knowledge).  He moved on to more of a rock sound, put Black Betty together with his new band and caught the ear of A&R. They brought him to NYC and basically constructed Ram Jam around him. They put out a largely unsuccessful album with a new vocalist. The only track he sang on was Black Betty...which wasn’t a Ram Jam song, or recorded by them, they just inherited it with Bartlett when the group was formed.

When I was in college, he played piano at a pub in town a few nights a week. Great guy with a ton of stories.

UNH controversy
In 2006, the University of New Hampshire administration controversially banned the playing of Ram Jam's "Black Betty" at UNH Hockey games. UNH Athletic Director Marty Scarano explained the reason for the decision: "UNH is not going to stand for something that insults any segment of society". In 2006 UNH students started the "Save Black Betty" campaign. Students protested at the hockey games by singing Ram Jam's "Black Betty", wearing T-shirts with writing on the front "Save Black Betty" and writing on the back "Bam-A-Lam", and holding up campaign posters at the game. The Ram Jam version was again played once at a UNH–UMaine hockey game on January 24, 2013 after a seven-year hiatus.

It’s an old blues song with many interpretations per WIKI

A 1 hit wonder with a song barely 2 minutes long. I saw Ram Jam for I think $0.98 (thanks ZMF) at the Uptown Theater in probably 1978.

I watched a documentary on the making of Zeppelin 4 last night.  Pretty cool (it is on Prime if you're interested) but the most mind blowing thing for me was, that the song "Rock and Roll" came about when they were recording "Four Sticks" and couldn't quite get it, and Bonzo just kind of went off, then Page started playing over it, and 15 minutes later, they had "Rock and Roll" recorded.  Unreal.

A ton of great music docs on prime - including one on greatest guitarists.

Yeah, I didn't know, then after I watched the Zeppelin one last night, there were a bunch more suggestions.  I'm definitely going to be checking more of them out.

Watched that too recently.  Pretty good show.  I, as a huge zep fan, even learned a few things.  The old video, especially at Headley Grange, was super cool.
