I suspect many victims are disappointed by this. Victims usually want to see justice. This piece of crap got escape.

And yeah – I think life imprisonment in a Supermax prison as a child molester is worse than a quick and painless death.

I don't think it has anything to do with respect for the deceased. I'm pretty sure it's aimed at normalizing discussion so as to reduce societal stigma and combat risk of contagion.

He may have been a terrible person who made terrible choices and left a wake of tragedy and unresolved trauma in behind, but that doesn't mean the Post are any less crappy of journalists for the way they're covering the story.

To be fair, wishing he got child molester treatment in prison could also mean getting the shizz kicked out of you with regularity. I have no issue wishing that on someone of his ilk.

I agree, it needs to stop being normalized. 

As for the guy committing suicide, there's one less scumbag on the planet and that is a good thing.  The victims and their families rarely feel better once criminals are sent to prison.  They may take solace in the fact that this guy can't hurt anyone else.  And they should.  Personally, he saved the tax payers a ton of money and did the deed himself.  Win win.

It's been a while since that was Catholic teaching. It could be, but it is not necessarily a mortal sin. Definitely meets one of the criteria...maybe not the other two.

But with this guy, it seems he may have had other entries on that particular ledger.

As for the OP, a horrible person can do no more harm I'm not going to spend much time on it. I do hope the victims each find a healthy way to deal with the trauma and live fulfilled lives.

I'm not aware of any "loopholes for rape" in Catholic teaching, but there's always confession.

So we're clear, absolutely nothing in this post or my prior post is intended in any way to defend this guy.  My initial point was simply to correct the statement that under Catholic teaching, suicide was a mortal sin.
