Something seems a little off here.  Wouldn't DJ be in touch with the Marquette staff?  I'm guessing the staff is promoting it if 11 of the 13 current players are signed up.  Have those 11 coincidentally signed themselves up without discussing it with anyone?  I doubt it.   ?-(
I agree with this statement.  Don't get me wrong PhillyCoach, I want DJ on campus, but it is incredibly odd that Gardner, Smith, and the rest of the MU squad are clearly clued in on this event whereas DJ has no clue....how is that possible?

no div 1 college coach would ever encourage a player to play in  any unsanctioned or sanctioned summer league. They could get hurt. Secondly those guys r already out there and know whats going on in the area where as dj is still here in philly and doesnt know any thing about the league. But i asure u he will be out there on the 7th ready to go. And unless the league is sanctioned by the ncaa im sure the mu coaches will advise the guys not to play bcause that will be a violation.

Coach, this league is fully certified by the NCAA.

Where did you find this information?

I agree also.  Don't want to believe a conspiracy theory here, but it is abit strange, especially since PhillyCoach advised DJ is going to be there on July 7th and probably the staff knew full well DJ's scheduled arrival.

Gardner, Blue and Smith are already signed up and they're not on campus yet either.

Rosters will be announced July 5, so Newbill best not wait until he gets here before he signs up.

Here's hoping there's a roster with Smith, Blue, Jones, Wilson, and Otule on it.

Only 2 players from a school can be on a team.

I should read the rules. Actually, didn't see it listed. Is it an NCAA rule?

It might be hard fitting everyone in. Is it only current players I take it because there are 18 players from MU and only 8 teams. 12 current, 6 pros, + Jamil.

Yes it is an NCAA rule.

Did you look at the roster of people signed up. It isnt just MU players...

It is based on the current team - so the 12 current players can be distributed amongst the 8 teams without a problem.

I just wasn't sure what the specific rule was in if alumni counted for a school since their was only 8 teams.
Makes sense.
In that case:
Blue/Matthews/Wilson/Jackson/Merritt
Make sure he feels at home with some good company  ;D

Those players all signed up on their own. Some called me with questions, etc on what they needed to do. The reason why so many MU guys are in there is Chris Grimm. He was the one that gave me the idea for this and he has been pushing everyone to get in. So, if they were on campus this summer and played with The Reaper, I assumed they were escorted into the locker room to register. He can be very persuasive.

Barndon Jennings - Don't know, I know he is slated to play in the Pro-Am in LA, so there may be a conflict. Been trying to get some Bucks, but the only one who contacted me was Bogut, and he will be overseas, or should I say down under seas.

Jerel, Ooze, Dominic, Steve & Travis - First off, no way Steve & Travis can play. Their agent would kill them. Securing a contract has to be their #1 priority. If they sign, I would expect to hear from them right away, Travis has assured me of that. Ooze - he will play, just dragging his feet. Dominic - no word from him. If any of you hear from him, have him call home. Jerel - When Jerel returns from summer league he will be a late entry.

Should be fun.

This might be a no-no question, but do all players pay the $150 fee?
I guess I really don't understand college players lives and how they afford fun stuff. Do they take out student loans to cover living expenses and fun money? Do they have part time jobs? Is this money sometimes not collected?

I'm sure their parents can cover it.

Everybody entering the league has to pay the same amount, no exceptions, per NCAA rules.

There are some kids that can't afford to pay, sad, but that's how it is. Would love to lower the entrance fee, but the NCAA won't allow us to charge a fee at the door, so not much we can do.

I don't follow the NBA closely, but wouldn't the same go for Wes as for Travis and Steve?

So lets get this straight, Wilson has been signed up for the pro-am for a while now and just announced he is transferring and Newbill is still not signed up for the Pro-am.  Interesting.

See my previous quote in this thread, "conspiracy theory".  DJ and his coach had no idea/knowledge this summer league was happening?  Who knows.

While I am certain nobody really cares about this right now, the Pro-Am rosters are really shaping up.  This should be a great way to see the newest Warrior without having to wait a year!

Any word on when schedules are getting released? I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but I'd sure like to be able to go to as many sessions as possible.
