Nice waste of breath.  Neither team will be in the NIT this year.

No kidding, doesn't the NIT still require a .500 winning %?  I'd like to know how IU is going to win 4 of their next 5. (NU, PU, @OSU, UW, @IL).

Never mind on the winning %, just found it "Teams are no longer required to have .500 or greater records to receive bids. Even with this change, however, all teams receiving invitations for the NIT have had .500 or greater records."

Nope, no longer requires .500%

If this happens, who am I going to cheer for?

If by Indiana, they meant Indiana STATE will be playing in the NIT, then maybe.

Is the NIT bubble soft enough to let a 13-19 or 14-18 team in?

Chico's -
Perhaps you could cheer for the tanned one to totally outcoach Buzz, but for the Warrior's to pull the game out in OT?

How about I simply cheer for Marquette like I always have and always will, regardless of who the coach is or who they are playing.

Very few MU fans would go to an NIT team at the Bradley Center. So NIT would have to create a matchup that would make fans want to show up. Indiana might do that, but most likely MU will not get NIT home games, because the attendance will really suck.

bilsu were you born yesterday?  Mu is top 20 in the nation every year in attendance and even a bad crowd at the BC is better than a good crowd at 75% of D1 institutions

Wrong again. Check the numbers of our most recent NIT games. Woeful.

The only final four JMay is part of is the final four off Tennessee's bench.

An Mu-IU matchup will be in Bloomington. Better attendance. Our NIT homes games have been poorly attended.

1) You do need to be .500 or better

2) Attendance for a first round game will only be 2500 to 4000 fans. You are only selling tickets for that game in two days. If MU is in the NIT and is 1,2,3 or 4 seed, they should play the game at the AL.

3) The NIT now seeds the brackets.

4) Regular season champs who don't go to the NCAA's get the bid to the NIT.

Agree.  Then again, they are woeful everywhere, especially if you have less than 12 hours to sell a game.  Sometimes the 3rd round games do ok and can get 10K at a game, but it's a bust event to host.

That being said, I believe CD is right and MU would host a game if the building(s) are open.  Would they host a MU\IU matchup?  Nope.  IU draws better.

That'd be fun!

I'd spend all game checking out the Tennessee fan section with binoculars hoping to see some real entertainment ... Tim Maymon.  I might come early to see if I can hear his reaction when he finds out what seats he got from Tennessee.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Can't see Indiana making the NIT, they'll be fortunate to win another game this year. Northwestern is their easiest opponent, and the 'Cats aren't an awful team and already beat the Hoosiers once this year. After that, they face Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and finish with a road trip to Champaign, where Illinois will be eager to avenge the court-rush earlier this season.

Maybe they beat Northwestern, maybe they win one in the Big Ten Tourney, but that's probably the best case scenario, and probably not good enough for the NIT.
