So, under Shaka, year to year improvement is better than any other school's 10 year average, based on that formula.  Nice.

It depends on ones expectations if we should be looking forward to next season or not. If we compare Shaka's success to Wojo them things look very bright.

If we compare to Al then you will surely be disappointed. With NIL and the portal system our best days may have passed in the 70's. If you are looking forward to another national championship, I suggest you look at the top talent demonstrated in the Big Dance this year. We simply are not recruiting at that level. We need strong talented bigs that can rebound and play D. We need shooters that can hit threes and yes foul shoots and mid range jumpers over tall bigs. We need ball handlers and passers. We need it all to be the best.

Not shooting midrange jumpers over tall bigs was definitely a big disappointment last season.

Wojo recruits develop.

I doubt Shaka beats out Al but if we're not picking and choosing what Al years we get to compare Shaka's start to and actually compare to Al's start then even it's ridiculous to be upset.

Yes I get were a bigger program now, but not big enough where we deserve to walk out and expect them to hand us a 2 seed in years 2 & 3.

This class of '70 alum is looking forward to next season without needing to make any comparisons to Al. I refuse to live in the past, but I love to visit it via memories sometimes. I think you are the one who will be disappointed, along with plenty of scoopers who seem to naively believe that if we just do all the things you listed in your original post that I edited, we will soon have our second natty very soon. Shaka needs to understand that he is not doing enough.

If Shaka only understood this the same way you do.  Championships would fall on MU like a January snow storm.  Please Shaka, understand you are not doing enough.

FL won a NATTY last year and not one of their starters was a top 100 HS player.  If you look back over the last couple years many of the AAs were players that were largely unknown and came up through mid-major conferences (TKO).  I don't like the new landscape where everyone has the opportunity to become a free agent at the end of the year.  If guys like Shaka, Izzo and Painter can successfully buck the trend, they'll be heros to me.

Umm...it was satire.  ::)

Didn't think I needed teal. You may want to reread Class '71's post and then my reply.

I like your January snowstorm analogy though.

I have no problem with athletes having the same freedom of movement rights as coaches and fellow students, but otherwise I agree with your post.

Golden built a championship team around 3-star and low-4-star recruits, a couple of mid-major transfers and retention of his good players. In the process, he beat teams that were loaded with transfers, NBA-lottery-level recruits or both.

lest we forget, coaches have contracts with monetary penalties for leaving.  Unlike players, who may have monetary rewards for leaving.

When has a coach ever paid a penalty out of his own pocket? His new school covers that little detail.

First sentence: Not really. Those contracts certainly don't penalize the coaches themselves.

Second sentence: You don't think coaches reap "monetary rewards" for changing schools?
