Bill Scholl did a great job. He’d be held in high esteem just for seeing Wojo’s limitations as a coach and canning him. He moved even higher by hiring Shaka. It’s been a rebirth of MU hoops. Thanks, Bill!

Let Shaka hand pick who he wants.  That relationship is all that matters.

Yes and no.  This is an important hire.  The ever-changing landscape demands someone that can navigate it.  It is not business as usual.

The relationship with Shaka will be paramount, but it can’t be the only factor.

The admin seems in a solid place to make a good hire here. No doubt Shaka's enthusiastic support must be a prerequisite for any hire.

…but, didn’t Scholl hire Wojo? And if not, why did it take him (Scholl) so long to make the move on Woj?

I thought Cords hired Wojo. Lovell was hired quickly and then Scholl hired later on.

No to Broeker. I'd call Craig Pintens. An alum, from the area, AD experience, and a great guy.

Pintens of course is a natural candidate. Shawn Eichorst, Deputy AD at Texas and former AD at Nebraska and Miami, is another. Like Pintens, he is from Wisconsin and a MU Law School alum.

But I will be shocked if its not Broeker.

Wojo’s 3 best seasons were 3, 4, and 5. When should Scholl have made the move? Some (mistaken) MU fans thought it was too soon when he did fire Wojo.

Bill did a wonderful job as AD, overseeing a tremendous growth period for the athletic department as a whole. Olympic sports seemed to really improve with facilities and resources in the past ten years.  Among other things, he will likely most be remembered for hiring Shaka.

Hope he enjoys retirement.

…true. I was good with yrs 1-4. Grew impatient with yr 5. Hindsight 20/20 make the move after yr 5. Trend was clear. Wojo is a good guy…wished it had worked. Glad Scholl did, at least, make the break.

Scholl was a true gentleman. He had Excellent vision at a time MU needed it the most. Guys like him don’t grow on trees.

Pintens hasn’t shown enough at LMU to make the move to MU. Basketball under Stab is mediocre, and they’re cutting sports.

Brian Hardin, Scholl’s protege and former MU student- athlete, now AD at Drake, would be my pick if Broeker doesn’t get it.

He could do for Marquette basketball what he did for Georgia! And he LIKES us. That’s the all important thing around here.
