 +**May, 2009:** Much has been written about this young budding star that was an early Ohio St. commit/de-commit. Golden is a pure scorer that can light it up from well behind the arc. He took over in the quarterfinal game versus Florida Breakdown knocking down four 3-pointers in a row to put the game out of reach. He is a combo guard that is probably more a two at the moment and is not overly explosive in getting by his defender to the paint. He is developing an improved mid-range game and showed a couple nice plays of the dribble for a pull-up jumper. His size as a two and his playmaking as a one are his biggest question marks, but if a team needs a scorer that can consistently knock it down and is willing to over look his size, this young man will fill a void.

 +April, 2009:** Golden has very good strength and indomitable will that fuels his forays to the hoop. He believes that he can get to the cup at will and most of the time, he is correct in his thinking. He does a good job of using his body to create space as well as draw fouls on defenders. However, he has a tendency to try to overpower smaller guards too much and he gets into trouble and turns the ball over. Golden also has to learn to penetrate to his left as easily as he does his right. He has range out to the 3-point line on his jumper, but he needs to work on the consistency on the jumper. Golden also has a tendency to shoot on the way down as opposed to his highest point on the jumper. He also needs to work on his decision-making, especially in pick-and-roll situations, if he wants to become a point guard on the next level. Golden also needs to become a better defender, given his good amount of strength and decent quickness.

 +**August, 2008(Adidas Global Challenge):** A young version of Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson when he gets it going. This powerful scoring guard can knock down the three in transition or spotting up in the half court. He has range beyond the arc and displays good form, elevation and follow through. A good not great athlete but he can power the ball off the dribble into the lane and shoot his pull up jumper. A decent passer but scoring is his top priority. Golden plays with passion and competes whenever his is on the floor. He must do a better job of not gambling for steals on defense. Golden has great confidence in his game and can break the game open with a scoring flurry that can start in transition and end with a deep three.

 +**July, 2008:** Golden attacks the rim every time he gets the ball, using his quickness and strength to overpower defenders and get to the paint. Once in the paint, he uses his power to go through bigger defenders for layup attempts and he gets to the free-throw line by drawing contact. As a point guard, his aggression sometimes hampers him. He can play out of control and does not look to involve his teammates, which he needs to do more of since he plays with such a talented AAU team -- including the No. 1 player in the 2009 class in Derrick Favors.

 +February, 2008:** Trae Golden is one of the elite prospects in the 2010 class. He is a tremendous athlete with an ability to score. He is mature on the court and handles himself well against older competition. Golden is very explosive off the dribble and he has the ability to create his own shot at any time. He can shoot with range, but he does need to learn to play with some pace to his game to become an effective point guard at the college level. Golden is a tremendous talent, but still needs to learn how to play the point position if that is going to be his position in college. One thing he can do is score the ball and he has all the physical tools to develop into a dominant guard. He plays with passion and plays to win.
