As a senior at Milwaukee Pius, Johnson averaged 19.6 points and 11.5 rebound per game and led his team to 2nd place in the state private schools' tournament.
He was a unanimous All-Catholic Conference selection by coaches and even received some prep All-American mention.
Marquette Career
1971-72 Season (Frosh Team)
Johnson was a starter on the 1971-72 freshman team and averaged 9.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg. That season, he had a season high of 25 points against Olive-Harvey.
1972-73 Season
Al McGuire redshirted Johnson because, though the talent was there, he needed more development.
