Aamot signed with Marquette University out of Waukesha South High School. He later transferred at the end of the 1992-93 season to North Dakota State and became a key player on their 1993-1995 teams.
He currently is a high school music (choir) teacher and choral conductor at Appleton North High School in Appleton, WI.
