Sir Lawrence

Nice article.  Doubt he'll be able to respond to every email sent to him.

After reading some of those lines, I have to imagine the writer spent some time lurking this board. Or, maybe he's a member  ;).

The most interesting part of the article to me was from McSteal on Buzz:

"His personality is a big change," McNeal said. "He's always himself, and he gives everybody a chance to be themselves a lot more. In some situations, he understands the players a lot better.

Seems he might be saying something about Crean?

Rollout-the-Barrel

I think Jerel was complimenting Buzz more than bashing Crean.
The more I here about Buzz, the more I like him...

Excellent article and good publicity for the program. I like the fact he is still pursuing Jamil Wilson, or at least stated so in the article.

I love Buzz's personality and the job he's done as a recruiting so far. He IS the right guy for this job IMO. I mean seriously, It's Marquette! It's Marquette!

It's Copenhagen pouches, that's like dip with training wheels.

Yeah, it's a swell article.  A real feel-good story ...

But does anyone doubt that, if MU fails to make the Tourney with the talent on-board, ESPN will be the first to bash Cottingham for the stretch he took handing over the keys to a Top-25 program to such an inexperienced assistant?

Glaringly absent from the article is any reference to the money MU saved in going rail rather than top-shelf.

Nor is there any discussion why the search for the head coach of the school's main profit center took just six days.

I don't think ESPN would mention anything about it if that were to happen...they'll leave the bashing of Cottingham for the fans on this board...

Actually Mu will not really be saving anymoney if Buzz does not work out as they gave him a 6 year deal.  However I have every bit of confidence that Mu fans in a few years will be delighted Buzz is our coach and the old coach is self promoting some where else.

And of course they will say that if he does not work out that is what arm chair columnsit/reporters do.  I have total confidence that will not happen.  The signing of a 4 or 5 star PG will make for the best recruiting class Mu has had in 30 years

also pouches make for quick cleanup when someone steps into the office etc.

The smokeless tobacco usage presents a huge potential health hazard. My advice to him or any user would be to stop immediately regardless of the "buzz" you may be receiving.

+1 on the health hazard. A poor example to our athletes and other MU students as well.  We're not going to have to watch him spit on camera are we?

Chewing tobacco is the least of the vices I practiced and/or witnessed as a Marquette student.

dwaderoy2004

A poor example?  This is a grown man who does this legal activity in the privacy of his own office.  Did you know about this before the article came out?  The answer is no, which means he apparently doesn't do it in public.  Regardless, it is his personal choice to do this.  No worse of a health hazard then going outside without sunscreen on, eating fast food, etc.  Sick of people blaming others for bad decisions.  If our athletes and students choose to use tobacco despite all of the health problems associated with it, than shame on them, not shame on Buzz.

+1.  Plus the "poor example" might apply to children in the Milwaukee area, but MU students are adults.  Even if Buzz succeeds, I'm sure they know better than to attribute his success to his use of chewing tobacco.  And if anything Bill Hall spitting his massive wad in the batter's box would be a bigger influence on the youth of Milwaukee, since I doubt Buzz plans on spitting on the floor during games.

Very. Small. Buyout.

Going on the cheap isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's the value of the dollar spent that matters.
