Big East RPI
« on: December 21, 2006, 09:15:50 AM »
I know deep in our hearts we giggle when Louisville loses and when Cinci loses to Wofford, and then to Ohio State by a ton.   Last night, Miami lost Binghampton.    The BE RPI is going to be crap.   The cumulative SOS is going to be sub-crap.   8-8 in the BE will not get us into the dance.   TT and Duke will be a nice counterweight, but NDSU is going to be an anchor.   9-7 with 2 tourney wins, or 10-6 with 1 or we don't go dancing.

Miami is in the ACC.

The Big East has no team under .500 at this point, but I agree with your comment that a sub .500 league record is no guarantee of advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Uhh...Miami isn't in the Big East  ;D

9-7 with 2 tourney wins, or 10-6 with 1 or we don't go dancing.
That's really no different than last year.  Last year the only team that was under (or equal to) .500 in the BE that danced was Syracuse because they won the BET.  Not sure why you're all worried about RPI or having this panic attack now.  Same as it's always been: Win and we dance, lose and we don't.

Thanks to all who pointed out my error.   I blame it all on newborn induced sleep deprivation.   Mea Culpa. ::)

Can't believe you could make such a foolish mistake.

Now back to  the Big East, Boston College's loss to Vermont and Virginia Tech's 3 losses also hurt our conference RPI.  ;)

UCONN's  cupcake schedule isn't exactly pulling us to the top either... Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Pepperdine, St. Mary's... National powers

When WE start taking care of winning ALL of our own games THEN we can start griping about the rest of the big east holding us back.. way I see it we have a few things still under our control to fix ;)

St. Mary's is somewhat respectable, they may be 6-7 but most of their losses have been to good teams (Nevada, UConn, USC, Seton Hall (yes i know those last two are debatable). Pepperdine has been in previous years, theyre awful this year but they have been good, i dont know when the contract was signed.
