Pakuni, I own Flaming Lips - UFOs at the Zoo (their concert at OKC Zoo)... the show is fantastic, just wondering if youve seen it/what you think about it.  Still need to make a Lips show in my life

I've yet to see that.
I have, however, seen the Lips on about a half-dozen occasions, the first being at the old MU Union back around 1989 (yeah, I'm old). Fantastic show, but they were a different band then. No less great, but different.
Anyhow, they're always a ton of fun live, so I highly recommend you check them out at your earliest convenience.

Also worth viewing: "The Fearless Freaks", a documentary about the band.

bought that for my brother, loved that documentary, The Lips are great, my brother has seen them plenty of times, I just haven't gotten around to it, its on my list of things to do.

Pakuni - your list of bands could easily be mine.  We must be about the same age.  Seems like Tower912 is into most of the same stuff, too.

If there is one band that seems to have influenced music throughout the 80s and 90s, it has to be The Clash.  Just think about it, when The Clash started out in the 70's, the airwaves were dominated by songs like "Don't Rock the Boat, Baby."  Within a matter of a few years things took a totally new direction with New Wave/Alternative.  Not all of that change can be credited The Clash, but much of it can be.

Also, kudos to SaintPaulWarrior for his picks.  Talking Heads, Stiff Little Fingers, Sex Pistols....all great stuff, man.
