True story:

Marquette alum Tom Keegan was among a group of sportswriters talking before a game to Tommy Lasorda, and for some reason Keegan tells him what a blumpie is. Though Lasorda calls it "disgusting," they all laugh.

Later that day but still before the game, George H.W. Bush is a guest of the Dodgers and he's in the dugout talking to Lasorda. Several sportswriters join the conversation and a couple of them ask Bush about his college baseball career. Lasorda decides to introduce the sportswriters to Bush, and when he gets to our fellow Warrior, he says, "And this is Blumpie Keegan."

To which Bush says (and picture Dana Carvey imitating him): "Pleased to meet ya, Blumpie."

Everybody cracks up except Bush, who doesn't know what's so funny.
