Vander Blue Man Group

What I said is losing on the road by 10+ to a very good team in the 3rd game of the season would not spell doom for the rest of the season.

I do think that game became much more manageable when they lost Brandon McCoy for the season. I'm glad we're playing them early before their front court has had time to gel and without their best wing.

Still underdogs, but I think our odds went from around 10% chance of winning up to around 30%.

Galway Eagle

Quote from: muwarrior69 on September 04, 2026, 09:06:37 AMYep, if you don't win that one you still come up short. How many people remember the runner-up?

Off the top of my head UConn last year, Duke in 90, Marquette in 74 (admittedly biased), Illinois in 05, Memphis in 08, Butler in 2010 & 2011, Wisconsin in 2015 (admittedly biased), Georgetown in 82, Georgetown 85, Houston 83, Kansas 03, UNC 16, I know seton Hall has one in the late 80s as well.

I'm sure if I tried harder I'd remember a few more.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Well here we are. One person on Scoop who follows college basketball can rattle off quite a few runner ups. I said not many. Not just a few here on Scoop.

I mean, I could name everyone since the tourney expanded to 64.  Quite a few fans couldn't name all the national champs in that range if it wasn't their team.
