The venn diagram... PG skills.  Knows that NJ will likely get the lion's share of minutes.  Fits the culture.  One year, as Shaka continues to recruit HS players.  Willing to play for the money slot allocated.  Now.....go.
  CP is small, but experienced.  He thought his eligibility was up.  At 5'10, he knows he doesn't have a future in the league. 
  There is no way he came to MU to play off the ball.  Can't have 2 tiny guards in the game at the same time in a big guards league.  What he can do is mentor, play his 10 minutes, go in during the last two minutes when MU is trying to hold the lead.  Take his money, make contacts beyond Liberty.

How did 2021 high school grads benefit? Do they get an additional year too?

And I don't care that it "harms" MU. MU had a choice to bring in one of these guys who refuse to grow up, when many schools are refusing to do so.

I agree about the NCAAs missteps but I wouldn't say blocking 2022s harms #mubb. Several of Marquette's opponents next year are bringing in a lot better 2022s than Colin Porter (no offense to Colin, there's just a lot of really good 2022s trying to come back). I think #mubb would likely be in a better position if all 2022s were blocked.

This added depth could be very useful in any case but I wonder if this addition is more of a floor-raiser or ceiling-raiser.

If he can give us 8-10 minutes quality a night, then that does a hell of a lot to help Nigel stay fresh during games so he can utilize his explosive speed. It also allows Nigel to play closer to 25 minutes during buy games or when (I know it's hard to fathom and I'm only confident this will happen a few times) MU is blowing a DePaul, Seton Hall or Butler out of the Fiserv Forum. This will also help preserve Adrien Stevens because Nolan will be able to spend ample time at SG.

Zero clue what Shaka was thinking — none of us do. But given how the Porter situation played out, leaving that last scholarship open for an actual contributor instead of locking it up with Crowdis would've been the wiser move. Especially now, when portal additions come much cheaper and there are legit upgrades still sitting there.

Raising the floor is incredibly important.  Keeps players fresh and provides flexibility for different styles of play.

And if they're not good enough to do that, get a job; don't take away a roster spot from a kid who has done all of the right things (Crowdis) to earn a spot and now sees these petulant wankers say, "f off, I want more."
