Looking at the highlights of both games I see good movement and aggressivenes on both ends of the court...that of course is tempered with highlights don't show when things don't work.

What is shown though is neither opponent had any size...so lots of currently easy things won't be easy against real competition.

Nevertheless...great opportunity for lineups to work together early on.

Stevens looks like our best 3 pt shooter at the moment.

MP2 should be our best one but seems to be rushing or something. If he can get the game to slow down just a touch, we are in for big things.

Minnesale and Royce will add nicely to the 3s made.

Need more out of the other guys. DO seems to be hitting a decent clip based on highlights.

I'm fine with limiting his time against weak competition. The last thing we need is for him to get injured in meaningless games.

Shaka used 18 ahead of 8 in the first game and 8 ahead of 18 in the second game. Not sure we're getting an accurate read of what the regular-season depth chart will be at that position.

There will be a few opponents whose height gives Marquette problems, but against most teams, MU should be tall enough. Fru and Parham aren't short, and they're good around the basket. When Owens plays 3, he will be as tall and athletic as most opposing 3s; same with Phillips. Minessale is a tall guard. Stevens is pretty tall. Nigel can sky.

Those were some ugly 3-point shooting numbers, exacerbated by tons of misses by Phillips and Minessale. Hoping each is better when November arrives. But Minessale shot under 31% from 3 in two seasons at St. Thomas, so maybe it's too much to hope that he can be at 35%+. Otherwise, his game has looked really good in the videos - aggressive drives to the hoop, made layups and some good dishes.

Not ideal. I was having some PTSD last night after the game when I saw the FT and 3 point shooting percentages. There is time to figure it out, but we will get punished against high majors shooting like that.

I don't recall any press releases saying Clark was doing 10,000 hook shots this summer, so good on him for figuring it out.

Looks like they were going against a zone defense.  I'd bet Nolan's 3 point attempts go way down when not facing a zone.

Yeah and his shot is simple and repeatable. He'll never be a sniper but I'd be surprised if he's not a consistently good shooter.

NJ shot 35%, Adrien 38% and Royce 33% from 3 last season. The team shot just 31% from 3 last season; that with Chase at 29% and Gold at 27%. Our 3 returners are not sharp shooters but their not bad and should keep defenses honest.
