somebody needs a hot dog...

Quote from: brewcity77 on July 29, 2026, 07:39:29 PMAnd the idea that fans of a team might enjoy watching that team play and the people in charge of the team should do that very easy thing for the fans that pay their bills is the absolute bottom of the Mariana Trench in terms of low bars.

Quote from: The Sultan on July 29, 2026, 08:11:59 PMLOL...it's an exhibition tour in July. Overreact some more...

Wades is the one happy to not watch.

But it's not an exhibition tour in July, it's how they approach everything with the program.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Quick takeaways:

Minessale was the 5th starter.

Phillips first off the bench.  Then Owens and Hamilton.  Rotation starting to shake out?

Egbuonu and Johnston 9th and 10th men.

Walker still recovering.

I believe Clark and Miletic didn't play until very late; end of bench for them.

Brenn and Crowdis didn't play in a 53 point win, but at least Colton gets a free trip to Canada.

brewcity77

Wonder if Brenn is hurt. Not sure why he wouldn't get a token appearance on his birthday otherwise.

MU has a formidable starting 5.  The question is our depth.  Can Minnesale play some PG?

Yes.  And Stevens can too.

He refused to play. Told Shaka, "if you aholes can't stream a game for those who have made a financial investment in the team, then you can take my minutes and shove em up ur azz"

Quote from: brewcity77 on July 29, 2026, 08:05:31 PMYou can continue to not watch any of it. Why bother with the Michigan State exhibition, it doesn't count. Why watch Mercyhurst or Detroit, those won't be close. Why watch non-con? No bearing on the Big East season. Why even watch that, you can get the stats on an app, isn't that good enough?

If you're so excited about it you never have to watch basketball again. Not sure what the point of Scoop is then, but I guess you can just cite box scores.

I'd imagine I won't watch the MSU game unless I have absolutely nothing else to do. Went to the Mizzou vs. Kansas State exhibition going into last season and left before halftime. Complete waste of time.

In a perfect world we will get production from MP, DO, the back-up 5's,  and Nash.  But I really think our starters will be tough to guard.  Once Nigel forces help, we have a myriad of guys that can make plays in space.  Especially with the FLT (Fru Lob Threat).   We can spread teams out and attack 1 through 5.

Quote from: wadesworld on July 29, 2026, 07:55:39 PMCan't believe I wasn't able to spend 2 hours right after work watching a 53 point exhibition basketball game that could've been 90 if the regular rotation was used.

Not the point.  But that would be your choice to watch or not.  That fans that would have watched don't care what you think.

There is no logical reason to not stream it. You can eventually hammer people complaining about it incessantly.  Say in a month if they are still bitching about it.  But you can't logic your way to rationalizing a silly marketing mistake.

The decision to not stream these games will have virtually no impact on the program aside from whining on a message board.

Quote from: The Sultan on July 29, 2026, 08:06:02 PMWell, because taking "every opportunity" to engage fans isn't a realistic standard.

I guess I'm just annoyed at brew b*tching every off season. Haunted Hoops...lack of hot dogs...lack of streaming....  Yet they will likely be top 20 in attendance again this year. It's like these guys are professionals who have figured out what moves the needle when it comes to selling tickets.

Anyway, at some point the constant complaining just becomes chicken little nonsense.

Streaming is an easy opportunity. Not hard.

No logical reason to not stream it.

You said it's a silly marketing mistake. It's not - it's immaterial. It's a nothing burger.

As for the reason, Shaka apparently had one. You thinking there is no logical reason is YOUR opinion and nothing more.

Quote from: The Sultan on July 29, 2026, 07:21:43 PMHow are season ticket sales going this year? Did you re-up?

I didn't renew mine, but only because it's actually more cost effective to buy every game individually third party at this point

I considered going. As did you. In fact, we talked about it when we had dinner together a couple weeks ago.

Do you know why they chose not to? I don't. So I have no idea if their choice was "logical" or not.

Regardless, Vander is right. It may be annoying to the hard cores, but ultimately is meaningless.

Nah, he is absolutely correct here.  If other schools can manage it why do we not ask the same of our school?  The interest is clearly there as well since there is no football going on.

Streaming a game is the smallest of small asks.  No one is asking for a full production.  Just set up a camera and stream the game without comment to the school's website... or, heaven forbid, do something like Purdue did.

I understand the frustration with brew's constant 'bone to pick' with the current admin, but he isn't wrong on this one.

I don't see Brenn on the scholarship table. Is he a walk-on?
