Best College Player You've Seen vs MU?

Yeah, I knew that. Was just having some fun.

We played them in the Sweet 16 my freshman year (March 1979). Had an 8-point lead when Worthen just barely overthrew an open Toone on what would have been a breakaway dunk for a double-digit lead. Marquette probably would have then gone into its version of a stall, which was quite effective back in those pre-shot-clock days. But DePaul came right back and scored, eventually took the lead, and held on to win by 6. Aguirre didn't even score 20, IIRC.

Am happy am not the only one who remembers that play vividly and as the turning point.

Great performance category:  Austin Croshere of Providence destroyed MU in the 1st round of the 1997 tourney with 39 points.

When I read the question, I recalled Austin Croshere having a great game against us.  I did not realize it was 39 points and a tournament game.  Thanks for the details.

Vanilla Soft Serve was so bad in the Creighton game near the end of his legendary MU era that it was as if he were playing (and betting) vs MU.

One of my most disappointing losses as well as we already had tickets for the Final 4 in SLC. So, ended up watching the Blue Demons there. Saw Aguirre and Bird up close in the open practice sessions the day before the games. Aguirre was a real butterball but he could really put the ball i. the hoop.

I believe his nickname at Westinghouse was "Fat Daddy"

I know it's before I was born, but I believe if Al didn't retire, MU would have gotten Aguirre and Terry Cummings.  And quite possibly Isaiah Thomas as well.  Very unfortunate because we're looking at a 3 year period of total MU hoops dominance.
