Can't remember every game I've followed since 08/09 but these four are engrained in my head but probably because the tournament losses stay with you.

I'll defer to the experts but I think Aguire might have been a better college player but Anthony was a better pro.

In the game I'm referencing, MU was at home and had Robert Byrd on Aguire. Byrd was MU's best defender at the time. Every time Byrd got close, it seemed Aguire took a step further away and hit it. By the end of the game, he was basically standing on the sideline and hitting them. That entire DePaul team was great but Aguire was unconscious.

At least Joey rotated off his man after Brennan Bailey got juked so badly by Ja up top he never played for MU again, and Theo was caught flat-footed watching at the elbow.

We played them in the Sweet 16 my freshman year (March 1979). Had an 8-point lead when Worthen just barely overthrew an open Toone on what would have been a breakaway dunk for a double-digit lead. Marquette probably would have then gone into its version of a stall, which was quite effective back in those pre-shot-clock days. But DePaul came right back and scored, eventually took the lead, and held on to win by 6. Aguirre didn't even score 20, IIRC.

Probably the most disappointing loss during my 4 years at Marquette, and one of my bigger disappointments as an MU fan. It could have been us getting beaten by Larry Bird in the Final Four!

One of my most disappointing losses as well as we already had tickets for the Final 4 in SLC. So, ended up watching the Blue Demons there. Saw Aguirre and Bird up close in the open practice sessions the day before the games. Aguirre was a real butterball but he could really put the ball i. the hoop.

The guy with the 9'7" max touch probably should've realized the guy with a 12' max touch was already off the floor before he was even loading up to jump and should've probably made a business decision.

Yup. If we go back far enough pretty sure I defended Joey on that play back then. He had no chance at it, Bailey got caught napping.
