I was curious if any Scoopers saw the Notre Dame game in the early 70's live?   I think  it was '71.  Austin Carr had insane college stats, and lit up Marquette as well as pretty much the entire country.  He's the first guy that came to my mind.  I heard someone interviewing him on the radio and was incredibly impressed.  Very humble man.  Did he have injuries as a pro?   He has 3 of the top 5 scoring games in the history of the NCAA tournament.  And that's before the trifecta.

Best player or best performance ?

Lots of great players obviously..........Thompson, Grant Hill, Pistol Pete, Rick Mount among many others.

One great performance that came to mind was Larry Hughes jr ........

I was thinking best player and forgot about David Thompson.

I remember watching the Duke game vs Kyrie.  He didn't do much but you could see the talent.  I also remember being infuriated we could guard Plumlee.

MU82

Why would you be infuriated that MU could guard someone?

Hughes and Thompson were the first two that came to mind. Then Julius Peppers...

Agreed on Irving when in KC that year. Lots of good opponents in the Classic in the 80s, Fat Lever, Ron Harper, but Dumars stood out the most.

Luke Harangody! Everybody hated Shrek, especially because he played for, you guessed it, Notre Dame.

Reece Gaines cut our throats multiple times.

He's not the best, but he holds a special place in my mind.

Scottie Reynolds falls into this category for me. He was my age, class 2010, and always seemed to kill us. Especially the 2009 Big East tournament

Yes, I was at that game. What hurt more were the missed free throws.
