True, but my point is that the voters who were warned (and also watched the January 6 insurrection) who are primarily responsible. They knew. There was an election, not a coup. Anywhere on earth, politicians will seize power and maximize it if they can. In this country, they were given the power.

My RN wife was surprised he even lived long enough to undergo surgery the day after he suffered the aortic dissection, but he did, and thankfully the operation was a success. His recovery was long and difficult, requiring hours and hours of therapy (physical, speech, mind), but I'm thrilled to report that he is pretty darn close to fully recovered.

One of my nephew's died of an aortic dissection in May of last year at the age of 55. I believe that he was in surgery for about 6 hours while the surgeons tried everything they could to save him, but there was too much blood loss. He knew he had an aneurism for several years but neglected to have it tracked via imaging. Insurance companies typically require that an aneurism reach a certain size/measurement before they will cover the huge cost of open-heart surgery. His father/my brother is a retired physician and asked for my medical records, as I had open -heart surgery 7 years ago. He also said that had my nephew survived, there would have almost certainly been major brain damage due to lack of sufficient blood to the brain.

My brother has been studying the evidence of hereditary factors (IF I remember what he said correctly, the amount/quality of collogen (Type 3 is in arteries) that your body produces is a major factor (and possibly hereditary/genetic) in preventing/reducing the development of aneurisms. His other son also has an aneurism which is being monitored. I had one that was discovered when I had double bypass surgery. I also had a valve replaced for my "engine rebuild". The patch on my aneurism was monitored via imaging for about 5 years.

The Cleveland Clinic is where my other nephew has been going to have his condition monitored and eventually, he will be operated on. The clinic is working on finding ways to address aneurism issues via stents and other minimally invasive means (believe me, open heart surgery is a HUGE deal!), but my nephew's aneurism location does not allow him to be a candidate for this experimental treatment due to the location of his aneurism.

I'll close with three points:

1) If an aneurism is discovered in your cardio system, follow your cardiologist's suggestions/directives without debate.

2) Remember my disclaimer.

At that point, then a Cat Scan and probably a stent to fix it.  He advised the days of open heart, cracking ribs is very rare for repairing.  Unless of course the length is so huge a stent won't help.  Usually in patients who are not under care and it just has gone on in time.

In the 1990's my Mom had one and they cracked her open and fixed.  I remember the surgeon telling me think of a garden hose with a bulge.  He went in, wrapped the bulge with kevlar, sealed it and closed her up.  Times have changed.

These things are vey family related, so as some of you age, get that Nuclear Thallium Stress Test and maybe a Triple A from a cardio guy.  Might save you.

Good for you.  Me, I was out of breath one day, went to regular doc, referred to cardio guy, Nuclear Stress Test and next day had stent put in through my wrist for "Widowmaker" artery. One night hospital stay and stent still doing its job. 80% blocked and if didn't go in, would probably had one year left on this planet.  My cardio doc has a 55 inch screen in office and after the tests, you can view with him.  Technology is just insane.

Simple tests, no pain. My brother who is 66, refuses to even go to his primary doctor for any tests.  His reasoning, he is afraid of what they may find.  Very common I guess.
Hope this short conversation results in some board members taking things in perspective and getting some testing done. Saving one life is awesome.
