Quote from: Galway Eagle on July 19, 2026, 02:27:26 PMYou're saying a season where we were at one point 14-2 & ranked #22 and a season where we won 20 games but had a stupid schedule are equal to a 20 loss season? I'm sorry that's a ridiculous take. Even 04 at least they made the NIT (embarrassing themselves)

I'll give you '01 & '21

Yeah, I think people are forgetting how bad it was for most of last season. I'm not sure where it "ranks," but it was terrible.

But it's also true that some were raising red flags over Shaka's roster strategy and where it would lead us, and that was largely met here with mocking and derision from the RGV acolytes.
It kind of still is, tbh.

I think we're all glad that Shaka has at least to some degree learned from his mistakes.

I'm just amused by the never-ending life of something that's been beaten to death 15,388 times on Scoop. And then resurrected to be beaten to death another 15,388 times. I'm not new here, so I'm not really surprised. Just amused.

Had more top 100 wins in the year 2026 than they did all of the '04-'05 season. Diener graduating, Mason transferring, things were bleak.

To each their own but in any given year where we make the NIT I will take that over a year we don't and any year we hit roughly our programs expected threshold of wins, I'll take it even if it was a weak schedule. we're talking about crap, I'd rather a nice crap than a deep dive into advanced metrics to determine whether I should feel better because said crap was tough.

In a world of crappy seasons the tiers I'd see are

2018 20-14 NIT
2005 19-12 NIT
2004 19-12 NIT
1998 20-11 NIT
2016 20-13 Lots of wins
2000 15-14 NIT
2014 17-15

2026 12-20
2021 13-18
2015 13-19
2001 15-14
1999 14-15

maybe it's just me but I can't imagine anyone looking at those records and post seasons in the upper list and saying "yup that's all about the same as the bottom"

As far as diener graduating and mason leaving we were bringing in 3 top 100 recruits, retaining Novak, and entering the Big East. I know I was just in 8th grade but that doesn't seem nearly as bleak as there portraying it.

I respect your opinion but I feel differently. '05 scored 39 and 40 points their last two home games. Funny enough like last year, they blew a pretty big lead against a Final 4 team, but were unable to hold on. It's probably a vibes thing for me, but last year you could see improvement and how this team could get better. The other seasons, I couldn't.

It happens when you get old. You just keep repeating yourself. At least that is my excuse. Let's just hope this coming season is not a repeat of last season.

I am more concerned about what well placed sources are saying.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

That makes sense as an excuse for you, eeyore69. Thanks for the explanation.

This coming season won't be a repeat; it'll be even worse. Doomed!

Especially if Hamilton and Clark get minutes, but then I am repeating myself, again.
