it was Clark's first year, and I am not willing to think of him as connected to Hamilton. Many scoopers seem to think that they are practically joined at the hip. Clark may or may not become a "serviceable player", but one of the common criticisms has been that he lacks the conditioning needs to stay in a game. And that is something that can be overcome via training.

Quote from: Juan Anderson's Mixtape on Today at 11:49:23 AMMy thoughts:

Fru is exactly what MU was missing at the 5.  Nigel and Sunny are MU's two most important players on the roster.

It wouldn't shock me if Owens starts at the beginning of the year with Minessale needing to prove himself in games.  But I expect Minessale to surpass Owens by the end of the year.

Egbuonu may have a BE ready body, but until his defense is college ready I don't expect him to play much.

Johnston has gotten taller and stronger in the last year.  Grew an inch and gained 15 pounds of muscle.  The opposite of Egbuonu, Johnston is ready on defense but raw on offense.

Phillips looking much better but I take that report with a grain of salt.  He was just completely overmatched last year.

I've been wondering if Egbuonu and/or Johnston might pass Phillips on the depth chart at some point this season. I agree that Phillips looks overmatched on both ends of the court last year. Yea, he hit some decent threes, but didn't he take less than a handful of two point shots, and made only 1 or 2?

Also thought he had some nice rebounding games in there.

Shaka has been talking Phillips up considerably this offseason.  Obviously, that doesn't guarantee anything.

But he did skip is senior of high school and knows what's required of him.  I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see him take a significant leap next season.

Man people are pretty hard on Michael Phillips. He was supposed to be in HS last year and he played as well as most normal freshman do. He's ahead of schedule and due for a leap this offseason now that he's college-age. Let's see if he can make it, because he has the physical tools and a nice shooting stroke

I agree with the comment earlier that Damarius could find himself as the starting SF and Minessale might overtake him at some point. It's not a one-or-the-other scenario, mind you. Nolan's minutes will be spread across PG to SF, while Damarius will spend some time at the 3 and 4.

I don't mean to be hard on Phillips, and it is a valid point that he could've been a senior in high school last year. I did feel during the season like he has potential and needs more reps and confidence. I hope that he does take a leap in this coming year. That said, if he is essentially the same age as incoming freshmen Egbuono and Johnston, it's not outrageous to think that one of them could really impress and push ahead of Phillips. Not predicting it, just wondering about it.

Alex's body (pawz) and Ethan's D (and size) (double-pawz)... vs MPII's def makes me say yes, those two could elevate past MPII this year

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Quote from: SchnitzelBoy on Today at 09:47:34 AM-Damarius has had so many ups and downs in 2 seasons that could be explained by the injuries. If this healthy offseason actually helps him realize the potential that is plain to see when he's on the floor, this could be awesome. Steady 35% shooting from three and his drunks could turn him into a 10ppg guy quickly. Also, his rebounding is impressive and could help us in that dept.

If that's all it took, Marquette would win the national title every year.
