I don't think so. It's hard to see a guy just waltzing into the starting lineup after playing at St. Thomas. Kolek needed a transition year and he was (we know now) an NBA prospect.

My guess is Owens starts in that spot.

Owens just had a transition year to earn a spot as a starter. We saw some nice playing from him in some late season games, but I doubt he starts. My guess is Minessale starts.

Overall, Owens has been quite unimpressive.

So, we actually have 2 openings still. Just because someone has committed to sign with us does not necessarily mean will sign with them. If he committed you would think all the paper work would have been done by now.

Do people really think Colton is going to get 14 minutes a night? I know people are excited about those highlights, but those are never anything but positive.

I can't gauge the quality of the recruit because there isn't much info on him. St. John's and Providence being interested is the only thing suggesting he'll be any good.

The fit, positionally, is nice though because we need backcourt depth

If the team is healthy, I'd be surprised if he plays more than 5 MPG.  It's certainly possible he exceeds expectations and earns more minutes but probably pretty unlikely.

I never said Owens would start. I think Minessale is likely to start over him. I also don't think it's all that important who starts. But I hope it's an open competition for minutes. Competition is good.

You, meanwhile, just see Owens' name mentioned and can't help but go on the attack. Sorry he stole your lunch money.
