Quote from: wadesworld on May 06, 2026, 03:12:46 PMDamn, that's a ton of production we lost.

Predictive metrics sites say you're wrong.  But you are smarter than them, so hopefully Shaka blows up the roster he's expecting.

How will Shaka address an injury or foul trouble next season? Who is ready to step in and contribute on a team many are expecting to make the tournament?

To answer my own question, I can see a healthy Owens realizing the potential we all saw in him for spurts of last season and during his freshman year. Otherwise, far too many questions marks.

Quote from: panda on May 06, 2026, 03:08:39 PMLose Gold, Ross, Lowery, Jones, Sheek and Norman from a 12-20 team while replacing them with two guys all while you have two completely incompetent bigs still on the roster. As the roster stands now, its another swing and a miss.

The losses of Norman, Jones and Lowery are killers. They were so productive. And Scoop favorites, too.

But I'm glad you mentioned losing Sheek from last season's team. He's obviously the most to blame for that 12-20 record.

We went 12-20 last year. We lost two starters. We replaced those two starters with Nolan and Fru. We have four roster spots available to improve the team but are running back Caedin Hamilton, Josh Clark and a bunch of freshmen.

That isn't a winning off season, that's doing the bare minimum.

OK. That at least makes sense.

LSU currently has one player on their roster.  It's May.  Relax.

Kinda lazy at the moment. Can someone link a current-ish listing of NBA draft testers who are somewhat likely to withdraw and keep playing college bball?

Seems like a lower amount than in some years past, but that's a feel not a known for me.

I'll feel better about our team when MMom joins us.

I hope things change before the season starts but comparing us to a program with a brand new coach who is in a dire situation isn't a glowing like for like.

I'll never understand why some here are so accepting of Shaka being a couple pieces short (several last season) the last three years. The core exists - no need to sit on hands to keep freshman and non contributors happy.

Respectfully, what does being "accepting" even mean? What would you like anyone else to do about it, other than complain more on Scoop? Write Kimo Ah Yun a letter telling him to put pressure on Shaka to get more players?

I'm an optimistic guy in life, and that definitely applies to Marquette hoops. So while I always always always want the team to be more talented, I usually look at the positives. I think it's been a good - not great, but good - offseason so far, and I look at the Torvik projection as kind of a validation.

That said, I'd love to see us add another competent big and another guard who could run the team when Nigel's not in the game. But in addition to genuinely believing we're going to be significantly better next season, repeatedly complaining about what my alma mater's basketball program lacks wouldn't accomplish anything other than making me cranky.

What should we do.  It's a message board.  Have some patience, kid.  Pieces fall into place at the pace they do.  I doubt Shaka is sitting on his hands in his office waiting for the phone to ring.

I'm sure (as has been discussed here) that everyone is waiting for the 5 year ruling to come down from the NCAA, and then add to that the recent commitments from guys like Donovan Davis, and potential re classifications of players.  There are a lot of moving parts to this.

Just sit tight.  Everything will be fine.  Or it won't and we will suck and Shaka will get fired.

Either way, no matter how many times you bring it up on the board nothing we say or do here will make the news move faster.  Just be patient, basketball is months away.

I'm on a Marquette basketball board discusses the Marquette roster and my opinions on it.

If you have a countering opinion, share it. If one doesn't have an opinion, scroll by.

You opted for the dodds route saying we can't control anything so why talk about it. One of the all time "look at me moves" you can do here. Not surprising.

Hilarious coming from the guy who flaunts being golf partners with MU's biggest booster.

Which makes it even more funny, because if there was a poster on here who could actually do something about getting Marquette the ability to drop bags for the level of players you think we lack and need to add, it'd be you.

Yes, I pull the "look at me" stuff all the time, not you.  Ayiyi.

You're welcome to your opinion, just like I'm welcome to my opinion (I am not alone) that you whine a lot considering how much time is left in the off season and how many players are going to be available to sign for the foreseeable future.  Do you see any of Marquette's targets coming off the board?  Any insight as to who the targets are?  Anything useful other than, "Shaka be fukcin up, man"?  No players to discuss as options?  No?

Just the same lines?  Man, we got little willie for that.

I'm talking marquette basketball while you're playing dwight schrute policing the board. Don't like what I post in regards to Marquette basketball? Respond with a counterpoint or keep scrollin.

It's may 7th - I expect you to hold everyone else to the same standard you're putting forth for me. It's an important job and I know you're more than capable of the task at hand.
