According to the Detroit Free Press, Marquette will be traveling to Michigan to play at Crisler on November 11th.

Plan your trip accordingly.

We can discuss the schedule as it comes together here, maybe even predict all our losses.

We'll lose at Michigan and at home against Wisconsin.

Should be able to handle New Hampshire.

Brew usually has a good grasp on who else might be on the schedule.  Once he drops those, we can see who else we'll lose to.

Mara and Johnson, however...

The consensus seems to be that Mara is going to the NBA because his stock rose significantly based on his performance in the NCAA tournament.

Johnson is considered a tossup.

Regardless, Michigan is going to have a dramatically different roster next year. Their high "way too early" ranking seems to be based on an expectation that he will be able to restock the roster and blend it into a championship caliber team like he did this year.

That might or might not happen, but it won't be done by November 11. Marquette has a better collection of returning talent than Michigan does if Johnson doesn't return. Michigan has added one transfer (Estrella from Tennessee) and has some good incoming freshmen, but there's no reason MU can't give them a good game.

Would've been nice for me if it was a home and home.

Neutral court games in Chicago, another failure of the athletic department.  Need them to be at destination locations.  We could pack a house in the Bahamas and it'd be cheap for the program.

I'd hate to see them lose at the UC two years in a row... But this squad should be considerably better than last year's when we ran with Zaide Lowery and Sean Jones as 2 of our top guys...

I hope all the local Marquette fans pack the place but I think this past season really turned a bunch of casual fans (and even a few die-hards) off. I see boatloads of MU fans around Chicago, so I think they should be a draw at the United Center when they're ranked.

Yeah if this was going to be a thing it should've started during the Kolek years when the entire alumni and student base within 2hrs would've showed up. It'll be tough to justify a very slow blue line ride and $20 beer to watch an unranked MU team play a crap Mizzou team.

Missouri, Michigan, and (hypothetically) Virginia are all going to be pretty tough. Mizzou is the one that's more than winnable, especially if MU fans (there are a ton of alumni in Chicago) show up like they should.

Texas A&M, (reportedly) Memphis, and Wisconsin are all very winnable games.

I project 3-4 nonconference losses.

Nah, as long as he is not relied on to be the main backup in case of injury or foul trouble, MU should be ok.  Shaka is not an idiot.  As soon as the backup power forward/center and backup ball handler are signed everything will be right in the MU basketball world.  If they don't arrive, MU is walking a tight rope.  Lots of offseason left.

No insight.  Just a simple recognition of a glaring weakness that could derail a season. I am assuming Shaka is acutely aware of this as well.

If he doesn't bring in a back up big, then both the ceiling and the floor of this team are both lowered.  Perfect health will be needed.  Sheek leaving was actually an opportunity to upgrade.  Filling his spot would be consistent with the RGV model in the eyes of the team.

Hopefully I am dead wrong and Caedin suddenly turns into a quality high major player.  Maybe Clark will too.  Just don't think I would bank on it if I were Shaka.  Need that back up guard too.

Why not have the mindset to maximize your team for next year and really every year?  Could be the difference between two or three more wins.  And that could be at any time of the season, including March.

I doubt we add another big at this point, but we're recruiting hat Canadian guard who would join up this summer should we sign him. Stiff competition with Providence and St. John's in on him as well.

I agree that going in with Caedin as the backup substantially lowers both floor and ceiling, which is a shame because we have no idea if Nigel (or any of these guys with NBA-type bodies) will be there the season after. What we CANNOT do is run him out as a starter in 27-28. If Nigel, Adrien, Royce, Damarius, MPIII, and Minessale are all back, that stacked lineup of seniors and juniors could be as competitive as our best MU teams. The long-term loss of Sheek could really hurt us.

I'm not ruling out that Caedin or Josh can be serviceable backups, that's actually a likely scenario. But that feels like their ceiling. We'll need to drop $$$ on a starting big man again next cycle.

The 2026 Marriott Bonvoy Battle 4 Atlantis is scheduled to take place from November 25–27, 2026.

This is how I find out it's no longer the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis?!?!?!?

They really downgraded with the Marquette vs. Oklahoma Bad Boy Mower Series at UIC.
