High School: First-team Parade All-American
Marquette: Captain of the MU team and had his #31 retired. Was on the MU Board of Trustees.
NBA Player: 13 season NBA career. 1 All star game. Fellow players praised him. 
NBA Head Coach: #6 all time in NBA head coach wins and a NBA championship. 
Leader & Advocate: A great advocate for his community and social justice.   

That is a very impressive resume. Doc is hall of fame.

Blaze your comments were right on the money. Not only was Doc a great ambassador and player for MU, but he was a tough/gritty hard nosed player in the NBA. 6th on the list of coaching wins all time (very impressive). He was a member of the Board of Trustees a few years ago and was asked to speak at the EOP banquet at Marquette. I heard one of the most eloquent/soul stirring speeches ever. Not so much about basketball, but about responsibility and giving back to the community. Being accountable. For a person of color, he ranks extremely high on my list as someone that I look up to. He's one of our best!!!!
