Quote from: MuggsyB on October 14, 2026, 10:39:16 PMThe three lefty/lefty home runs in particular have shellshocked the Dodgers, and their ass-kissing announcers and media covering the series.

I don't get all of the complaints about Joe Davis. He's not as good as Buck was, but his 7th inning was plenty enthusiastic. What are other Brewers fans are looking for? For Joe to whip it out on air during the next Bauers at bat?

Yeah. If I didn't know he was the Dodgers PBP guy, I wouldn't have guessed it by the way they talk. At the end of the day, more people care about the Dodgers, so it makes sense they get talked about more.

He's an average announcer at best.  Benetti is way better.  And in general he's more enthusiastic for the Dodgers.  In his defense Smoltz and the FS1 panel are worse, but the guy has no business announcing the best games.

Quote from: wadesworld on October 14, 2026, 08:52:50 PMIt will continue to baffle me why managers pull guys dealing when they clearly have more in the tank. Bullpen is already getting overused, tomorrow you are going to use the bullpen a ton, and you do this.

Third time through the lineup, heart of the order, two righties in the next three batters and your bullpen has been unhittable. You don't need to use the bullpen a ton tomorrow if you win because with a 3-0 lead you can pitch May, Drohan, Patrick, and Harrison and only bring out the big guns if those four manage to hold a lead. I think it was the right call.

Not pulling Uribe after his third batter on the other hand, that I don't get. He clearly didn't have it, should have put in Hall for Ohtani.

That's against the rules. Pitchers have to face a minimum of three batters (or an inning break whichever comes first) before they can be pulled. But I do agree that once he got past Muncy, he should have been pulled for Hall to face Ohtani.

That was not a "non-competitive pitch." You want to throw a slider below the zone to get a swing and miss.

Muggsy also believes "focus" is more effective than throwing a slider outside the zone.

This administration will get to short people in due time.  They have to get rid of the non-whites and non-protestants first.  Though, MAHA, is already targeting the non-Aryan ideal.

From Yahoo Sports:

274 teams have played at least seven games in a single postseason since 1903. The Dodgers' .572 OPS in these playoffs ranks 268th. Another shocking stat? They're batting .094 (3-for-32) with runners in scoring position.

I don't believe those facts, though. These are the 1927 Yankees, 1955 Dodgers and 1976 Reds all rolled into one. They're gonna go 11-0 this postseason, outscoring opponents 110-11.

Furthermore, the Brewers only scored 4 runs against the Dodgers last postseason, and if it happened in the past that means it definitely will happen again. That's the way sports always works. That's why the Knicks didn't win last season's NBA title and the Cubs didn't win the 2016 World Series.

Quote from: Dish on October 14, 2026, 10:08:42 PMI wholeheartedly believe a Brewers bullpen game tomorrow will harass/shut down the Dodgers offense. They are so lost at the plate right now, a different pitcher every AB will be the last thing the Dodgers want on a quick turnaround tomorrow.

That's sort of where I'm at too.  Yes the Dodgers have incredible starting pitching, but what Dodger hitter is in good form right now?

Freeman has 5 hits in 3 weeks and other than the solo shot in Game 3 against Atlanta, he's been a ghost for 2 weeks.  Ohtani is clearly hurt and that's resulted in him being completely lost at the plate.  He has 1 extra base hit (a double), literally 1, since mid August.

Betts and Tucker have been ok to decent, but just singles here and there, nothing of damage. Smith was the "hero" for a bit last night, but that was his second hit of the playoffs and he's still batting sub .100 and has nearly a 5:1 strikeout to hit ratio in the postseason.

Brewers pitching has been lights out, full credit to them, but the Dodgers offense has been pretty sleepy, even against Atlanta.  They scored in 7 of 36 innings against the Braves.  They've scored in 3 of 27 innings so far against the Brewers.  There is no consistent run production.

And with no offense, it just highlights how absolutely pedestrian Dave Roberts is as a manager.  His management of Snell wasn't bad, it was inexplicable.  It's not even Monday Morning QB, hindsight is 20/20 stuff.  Leaving Snell in there at 90 pitches in the 7th after he walked Yelich was a headscratcher.  Leaving him out there to face Mitchell at 100 pitches after he STRUGGLED through that Bauers AB made me wonder if he had actually passed out in the dugout.

When Snell threw the first pitch to Mitchell, I was confused why there was a split screen with 2 replays at the same time cause I couldn't believe that, not only was he still out there, there wasn't even a mound visit or a pause.  Just proceed as usual.  If he threw Bauers ball 4 it should have been a snap pull, much less the absolute piss missile on a grooved fastball dead center.

Slight correction...it was Vaughn who walked. Yelich pinch ran for him.

The thought was is that he could get through one more left hander in Mitchell who has looked awful in this series. Because after that you have four straight righties in Pratt, Lara, Ortiz and Churio. What he should have done is brought in the reliever after the walk.

But that Mitchell home run just absolutely devastating. It completely sucked the air out of the place.

BTW, this is what's great about the three batter minimum. It requires choices like this to be made.

I love, love, love that rule. Speeds up the game and makes for great strategery conundrums. I love the pitch clock and the slightly larger bases, too. It's fair to criticize MLB for lots of things, but they totally nailed those changes. I even like the ghost runner in regular-season extra innings, though I know some don't.

We also are not privy to certain details about Gasser's performance. Did his spin rate decrease? Was his release point starting to lower? Did he lose 1-2 mph on his fastball? Did Contreras reveal an issue?

As you said, the mistake wasn't bringing in Uribe - it was letting him pitch to Ohtani.

Bauers and Mitchell were the second lefty duo this postseason to hit back-to-back postseason home runs off a left-handed pitcher. Harper and Schwarber did it in the previous round.

Before that, the only other time it happened was when nobodies named Ruth and Gehrig went back-to-back in the 1928 World Series.
