I believe they used to have a "Newcomer of the Year" award and they split it in two.

Don't really get the coach of the year award. "We had a few teams that were supposed to be really bad and instead they were just bad, so give it to one of those guys." Would think the standard for a COTY in a power conference would be coaching a team that earned an At Large bid.
