Like most American teams nowadays, this team was wholly unlikable.  Treating this "war", not shaking hands and all that fake tough guy B.S. encapsulated best by the insufferable John Smoltz in the booth. 

American sports team culture is basically fake tough guys wrapping themselves in the flag and believing they're the troops all while fully embracing all of our worst stereotypes.  Golf, hockey, baseball.  All the same clueless bros.

Last year, during the Four Nations, I was in the DR with a lot of Canadians at the resort with US Bros sprinkled in. The Canadians were all really cool ("we love Americans but we're not going to be the 51st state") and the Americans were running around with an "America, f--k yeah" attitude. I rooted for Canada that night.
