MU may in fact shock the world and punk UCONN tomorrow.  I get the chances are slim, but they're not none.  UCONN has been very inconsistent.  Again, it's very unlikely.  But it's probably in the 18-20% chance range as opposed to 0.0.  They're not worldbeaters.  My personal opinion is they're closer to a 25-30 team than top 5.  Fk' em.  It's doable.

MU24

It will be impossible. MU hasnt come close to beating a ranked team , even a just out of the top 25 team, this season.

That doesn't concern me.  We also were up 30 on Creighton at the half.  :)

We also could have beaten St.J.

Literally played St. John's very tough recently.

Coulda shoulda woulda if.... But DIDN'T.

Providence coulda shoulda woulda won in Milwaukee if.... But DIDN'T.

And your favorite-Valpo, which, if I recall, you repeatedly said Valpo should have won.

Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

They are much closer to a top 5 team than a 25-30 team. They're not as good as their title teams, but they're no doubt a top 10 team. They almost beat Arizona without Reed, won at Kansas, and beat Illinois and Florida on neutral courts.

Valpo should have won.  My point is UCONN is not a juggernaut.  Creighton beat them soundly at UCONN.  Again, it will be difficult, but not impossible.  I would also consider playing all of our guys and implementing the Hack-a-Reed strategy if necessary.  I think everyone needs to calm down.  We won't be facing SGA, Curry, Jokic, Wemby, and Cade Cunningham.

Arizona had key players out if memory serves and they were at home.   They also absolutely should have lost to Providence at home.  This is a smoke and mirrors team.  They won't advance past the S16 IMHO.

It was UConn that was down two starters in that game. Tarris Reed & Braylon Mullins were out. Every rotation player for Arizona played.

Okay.  I was wrong.  But have they beaten anyone great since Dec?    I watched the Hall and Prov play them to the wire.  All I'm saying Brew is that they can be taken out.

Nope. I know it is more fun to fantasize about games we coulda shoulda woulda won if if if. Or that PC shoulda beat UCONN.

Now is it possible that we upset UCONN? Sure. But saying that you think UCONN is a top 25-30 "smoke and mirrors" team? Wow!

They've looked very beatable to me but I will acknowledge that I'm biased.

They haven't played anyone great since December. They're still 14-2 in that time.

UConn isn't Duke, Michigan, or Arizona, but they could absolutely beat those teams on the right night. They are clearly a top-10 team and in the mix to win the national title.

Anyone can be taken out. But if we played them 10 times they'd probably win 9. We just have to hope 10 is tomorrow.

That's fair.  Ty, Brew.

They are absolutely beatable at home. Don't let any clown on here say it can't happen. I'd say 10-15 percent chance.

ESPN analytics has Marquette's chances at 17.1% Currently, UCONN is favored by 8.5 (opened at 9.5).

Of course it can happen. It's just that some of us-me being one-realize that it is unlikely.  And I will add that I would absolutely love to be proven wrong in my expectations that UCONN will win. If Marquette wins, it will be a huge upset rather than being a case of UCONN being exposed as not as good as their ranking.

Did I not say it is unlikely??  17% is not impossible.   The question is will we see our A game a la Creighton (up 30 at the half) or that debacle last Saturday?

MuggsyB

I was referring to UCONN, not Zona.

Muggsy, you have GOT to lay off the caffeine so late in the day. I said unlikely. Take a deep breath and try to carefully read and understand what other posters are saying.

Oh...I understood that you were referring to UCONN, not Arizona, as "smoke and mirrors". And I disagree.

We are all hoping for an upset. It would even be more satisfying if Hurley gets ejected.
