Who is in power IS the problem.

In business, politics, and international conflicts-like this asinine war-wise leaders know their opponents thoroughly, know their strengths and weaknesses because experts have informed them of them, have a good idea of how their opponents will respond. Then, and only then, they make their move.

Thank you for your "wait and see" and "much we don't know" comments. They illustrate my points beautifully.

At least this term we know Who is making the decisions. We may not agree with them but there is someone who can be challenged and dissenting opinions can be heard.

I'm not sure anyone has ever slammed their dick in a car door quite as comprehensively as we did in Iran before (non-invading Russia in winter division).

Ok on a serious note, it cannot be exaggerated how bad formalized Iranian control of the Strait is for the world. The entire global economy rests on an American guarantee of free commercial shipping. That guarantee is gone. We don't know exactly what will happen but none of it will be good.

What exactly do you have to see? We haven't changed the regime, and instead have actually tacitly given them control over a waterway that was free to traverse just a few weeks ago. Furthermore Iran is still launching attacks today, and has made no pledge to stop its nuclear program.

Yeah we bombed their infrastructure, and that will take them time to rebuild no doubt, but have not fundamentally changed anything for the better.

The "religous zealots" that you ranted about above are still in charge. And their position has been legitimized by this administration.

This absolutely failed. The United States' standing in the world has decreased. A framework of well-crafted diplomacy, that took place over the course of decades by both Democrats and Republicans, has been ripped apart by people who thought they knew better - and it's obvious that they absolutely did not.

Pretty sure this is just "Biden is senile and being puppetted by (((shadowy viziers)))" talk.

He's doing his very best to make sure that dissenters are silenced via the FCC and defacto censoring of media as the newly dubbed War Department has done. .

In fairness Trump said a vote for Kamala is a vote for war, inflation, high gas prices, taking away Christmas, job losses, etc.

I voted for Kamala and did get all of those things.

Yeah, no. There is absolutely no "both sides" here. One side, filled with incompetent ignorant buffoons, took the advice of a war criminal and started a war with no discernable goal, wasted billions of dollars, killed a bunch of school kids, decimated the U.S.'s standing in the world even further, then fled the scene after surrendering, leaving the situation FAR, FAR worse than when it started.

Both sides my ass.

Quote from: WellsstreetWanderer on April 07, 2026, 11:13:03 PMChuckles from the armchair generals and diplomats here. I absolutely want to see this regime destroyed. I have a very good friend who twice served as Chief of Trauma Services in Afghanistan and he would come back after deployment and describe the horrifying injuries to our troops caused by Iranian ieds. Plus I have an image I cannot shake ever of a young Marine leaving the airport here wearing his dress blues and being wheeled by his father into a van. To me he looked no more than 20 years old and he missing both his arms and legs. I'm sorry if I put a damper on your amusement of this ongoing altercation but these religious zealots must be dealt with

So you want the US to go back and fight in the middle east again so another generation of fathers can take care of their limbless sons?

Thats some Maga logic right there boss.

And to be clear, the $1.7B was Iran's own payment to the U.S. for assets never delivered, plus interest, sent to them after they signed the deal.

Or, about the cost of 1 day of this war.
