The idea of US troops/bases on Saudi soil is extremely unpopular, and the official state media of Saudi Arabia denies the fact that the US has a presence in Saudi Arabia, because of the risk of popular unrest, like occurred during the first Iraq war.

It's because of AIPAC. But I truly believe that the last couple of years have destroyed Israel's reputation to the point where $$ isn't going to matter and that relationship is going to increasingly become less important.

Legitimate fear. Israel targeted Russian/Iranian assets in the Caspian see a little while back. That impacted Russias key ability to trade with Iran.

The currently have a Russian owned tanker heading to Cuba to break the embargo.

If Trump/US seizes that tanker, further challenging Russias sphere of influence, I wouldn't be shocked to see Russia at least threaten an attack on Israel, especially if they continue actions in the Caspian Sea.

That would open a whole new can of worms.

They are letting this tanker get to Cuba. TACO gonna TACO.

Well, nobody can be "sure" about anything in the future until the future becomes the present.

I'd side with cutting out the cancer that is threatening to kill our constitutional republic today and dealing with the next cancer when we have to.

Also, there's the distinct possibility that having to carry out the role of president would expose JV as the dangerous douchenozzle he is.

As for taking over giving him an advantage in 2028 ... getting to finish out the corrupt Nixon's term didn't help Ford win either the electoral or popular vote in 1976.

This is a fun exercise and all, but successfully invoking the 25th Amendment simply isn't going to happen. The only way Capt. Bone Spur leaves before 1/20/29 is ... well ... you know.

IMO, the criteria for removing a sitting President isn't whether his successor is better in a macro way. I fully agree with your characterization of the type of danger each presents; however, Trump is clearly and obviously mentally deranged. Allowing him to continue in power--virtually unchecked power thanks to a balls-less Republican Congress--is wildly dangerous.

There is the 25th Amendment way, which obviously never happen since Trump selected all talentless crotch sniffers for his 2nd term Cabinet, and then there is the impeachment and conviction way, which ol' turtle Mitch had in the palm of his hand and decided against, much to the detriment of the world. While not absolutely impossible, it is only slightly more likely than the 25th amendment route, which is to say not at all.
