Quote from: nyg on February 13, 2026, 05:02:25 PMThat was like Tiger Woods going in the 18th green at the US Open with a three shot lead, then putting four balls in the water to lose.  But unlike Tiger, the kid was way too confident and when he missed that first 4 quad, it changed.  Then he fell, missed another 4 quad and fell again.  Maybe a more simple run would have done it.  Probably cost him $50 million in endorsements.  He wins, he is on Wheaties, commercials, everything.  Was face of US Olympics and took a dump. That TV overhear was brutal, made him look like a spoiled brat.  Only 21, hope he gets over the loss.

Now waiting for the female face, Mikela to fall again in skiing.  In her last six Olympic events, she hasn't won a single medal, including one already this year.  Hope it doesn't happen, she is worlds best, but so was Ilia.

Now it is Jordan Stolz time.

Sounds brutal.

Stolz appears to be the real deal.

Anybody following boopgate?

It's apparently very scandalous that the Canadian curler gave a little poke to the stone after release and there was quite the shouting match about it.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I'm sure the Canadian has already apologized.

He's not necessarily wrong about not being sent to Beijing in 2022, he was second at the National Championships and normally the first three would go. But they sent the fourth place finisher Jason Brown, I think on the basis that Brown had international experience on the senior level, it was somewhat controversial at the time. Nathan Chen was the big name that year ( he had gone into the 2018 Olympics with high expectations and also failed to medal after an awful short program). Going there, with no medal expectations, might well have helped him deal with the Olympic pressure.
I thought that he was quite gracious in the interview afterwards, after a crushing disappointment at his young age.
I enjoyed the Kazakh skater, and am happy for him.

The poor performances by some athletes were undoubtedly due to screwing around too much, so running out of condoms should come as no surprise.

Quote from: wadesworld on February 13, 2026, 04:02:17 PMBrutal for Ilia Malinin.  Sucks the camera was zoomed in on his face waiting for his scores.  Caught him talking about them not sending him to Beijing, people will see that as him making excuses, but he handled congratulating the gold medalist and the interview right after that very well.

He's a 21-year-old kid who failed in front of the whole world, so I do feel for him. And I did appreciate the way he handled everything after his failure, including coming right out and saying, "I blew it."

But it's kind of like when Cam Newton would do the whole Superman schtick after big plays - if you're gonna pass yourself off as Superman, you'd better be freakin' Superman on the biggest stage or you're just setting yourself up to be mocked forever.

My source at the Olympics informs me that some guy who goes by the name Jay something has contacted the hotties on the women's hockey teams and told them he is available and will bring his own stash of condoms.

He certainly stepped up in the team event and delivered a gold medal performance.

Stolz may very well be capable of doing what Heiden did in "80 at the next Olympics.  It would take some training in the 10000m, but the kid is immensely talented.
